Is there going to be a gathering this year for C-Dorys in Tenn.
I thought I had read some where Byrdman had a few C-dorys on the River some time back. If so we would like to join some for a few days or longer?

Hey Jim,
Not to hijack this thread, but did you ever bring your boat to south Texas? Get a chance to look around SPI/PI area? Arroyo Colorado?
Best wishes,

Hi Jim,
We did come to Texas but with out Pandy Girl, We came to Edinburg for 4 weeks, stayed at a RV Park there.
We went to SPI, PI, & Port Mansfield. we did not find a place where if we brought the RV and Pandy Girl we could keep them close together with out taking her out of the water everynight. What we were looking for is a RV Park with Boat Slips at the Park. We did not go to Arroyo, Colorado? where is it?
There is places like we were looking for but we just did not come across them.
We have been following you on your trip started to Post but just been reading about it.
We are leaving on the 3/12/07 next week for Fort Myers Beach with Pandy Girl we will be staying at San Carlos RV Park close to where yall are, it is close to the high bridge that goes over to the North end of Fort Myers beach. You can see the southern end and the bridge to Sanibel Island from the Park.
We may go back to Texas next year and look again, we want to stay South Tx where it is warm.

Hi Mike,
Looks like a good trip you are taking, we will keep this in mind and thanks for the invite. I could not fine where you are going to put in at? Will your trip end up where you start from or will someone bring you Truck & Trailer to you?
Thanks Jim |

Pandy Girl: Mike and I talked on the phone a bit comparing calendars/work/travel and stuff...
WE ARE LOOKING TO PUT TOGETHER A 3 DAY CRUISE ON THE CUMBERLAND RIVER STARTING IN MT. JULIET TN, ABOUT 20 MILES EAST OF NASHVILLE ON THE MAP... AND WE HAVE BASICALLY TWO OPTIONS.
BOTH OF THESE OPTIONS HAVE FOLKS ARRIVING PRIOR TO OR AROUND NOON FRIDAY, SPLASHING THE BOATS...CHECKING SYSTEMS.... THEN DEPART...AND RETURN TO THE RAMPS MID MORNING SUNDAY FOR FOLKS WHO HAVE TO TRAVEL BACK HOME ON SUNDAY...AND HAVE OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/PLACES TO BE ON MONDAY... SOME TIME IN FRONT OF OR BEHIND...IS ALWAYS FLEXIBLE....BUT WE HAVE TO HAVE ONE SET "GATHERING TIME" FOR FOLKS TO FOCUS/PLAN AROUND...
OPTION 1: BETTER LOOKING WATERS AND MORE ANIMAL WILDLIFE GOING UPSTREAM....DEPARTING FRIDAY LATE AFTERNOON....FROM MT. JULIET, HEADING TO THE UPRIVER WATERS... AND RETURN IN TIME TO PULL BOATS ON SUNDAY AROUND 10AM-NOON..
OPTION 2: NOT AS PRETTY WATER VIEWING...AND THE WILDLIFE ARE HUMANS, ....DEPART FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND CRUISE DOWN RIVER, THEN LOCK THRU EARLY SATURDAY MORNING... MAKE NASHVILLE RIVER FRONT PARK ($50 A NIGHT) WITH WATER/POWER...AND AT THE BASE OF BROAD STREET/DOWN TOWN NASHVILLE.... AND KNOCK ABOUT THE HISTORICAL DOWN TOWN HONKY TONKS... THEN, BACK UP RIVER AND PULL OUT MID MORNING SUNDAY ...
DOWN TOWN NASHVILLE WE CAN EAT DINNERS/BREAKFAST ON LAND..IF WE WANTED... AND THERE ARE FOOD JOINTS EITHER DIRECTION FOR SOME MEALS....
PLANNING WEEKENDS LET'S TOSS OUT THE WEEKENDS OF 20-22APR AND 27-29APR. THIS FITS INTO SOME WEEKENDS OTHERS HAVE ALREADY EMAILED ME ABOUT....AND THERE IS NEVER GOING TO BE A PERFECT PICK FOR EVERYONE...
POST CAN BE FOUND ON HALCYON'S PAGE, WANDERER'S, AND SOME OTHERS WHO HAVE CRUISED WITH US ARE C-PEARL, FOGGY DEW, SEA3PO, TOM & MARGE (WHO SOLD GYPSY TO MIKE AND B AND IS NOW GYPSY), RNA VERDE (GREEN FROG....AND FENDERS)... AND SOME OTHERS WHO SIMPLY TRAVELED THE WATERS...BUT NOT AS A GROUP OF C-BRATS.
YALL LET ME KNOW WHICH DATES ARE BEST, WHO COULD DO FOLLOW ON OR PRIOR TO TRAVELS...AND I WILL PUT SOMETHING TOGETHER.
SORRY FOR PUTTING DATES IN THE MIDDLE....BUT THIS CA DREAMING HAS ME A BIT MORE MIXED UP THAN USUAL....IF YOU CAN BELIEVE THAT..

brydman,
your trip sounds interesting.
looks like the evenings are scheduled to be in marinas, so, if that's the case, showers should not be a problem?

jim,
on the Tennessee River, the Hard Dock Cafe is at mm305 and appears to be in the middle of the river below the Joe Wheeler Highway. It is also located at the Riverwalk Marina. depending on where we terminate the cruise, we will either trailer the boat back with someone bringing the trailer up, or get on the Cumberland and cruise back to our dock at home. it is still in planning stages and requires much more thought!!! hope that answered the questions!!

hi capt. pat!
if we go 17 miles up stream toward four-legged widlife on the cumberland, we would most likley end up at Bledsoe Creek Marina. Not a real fancy place, but the owner (gene) is one of the most gracious hosts to be found. showers are available, plain but really clean, and gene will put a filet steak on you that would make most five star resturaunts with envy. upstream is a much prettier ride. if we go downstream 17 miles, we will be just above Old Hickory Dam at Anchor High Marina. no showers but a great bar and some really good catfish and sandwiches, some live entertainment, and the ownwers are younger, but a nice place. next morning would be locking down to the two legged wildlife in nashville. the rate has changed to around a dollar a foot and 8 bucks for power and water. the night life is a short walk (3 blocks) to food, micro breweries, Tootsies Orchid lounge, ect. ect.
either way is fun especially with C-BRATS along for the ride GYPSY is game for the week-end either way |

We vote for April 27-29. When do you think you will finalize the dates?

if this is an open invite, april 27-29 sounds workable for linda and me.
march, april and may, can be very trying times for boaters on the ohio river due to winter snow melt and spring rains. so, question is, what do you expect the water level and/or current to be for the cumberland on those dates.
our boat is located at lake cumberland now, we would trailer it down from there, probably arrive on thursday, launch it and check out the river, stay in a local marina, have dinner in town, or what ever.
this my friends, has the makings a very good time.
linda and i had just recently talked about a water way trip from four seasons marina, here in cincinnati, to nashville. haven't looked at the charts but, if memory serves me correctly, it's about 488 miles to the cumberland river, and maybe 180 miles to nashville. so, roughly 700 miles divided by seven days, being trawler type people, that's a lot boatin'!
think i like your trip better.
best regards

Hi,
We can make it on the April 20-22 but have already got Resv. for the next week end. The best time to have this is when you can work it into you time slot. and maybe we can come to another one sometime this summer, thanks for getting this together.

WEEKEND OF 27-29APR07.
Sorry Jim...but too many others are able to make this weekend...but, at the same time....who knows.... some of us may need to practice a little the weekend before. It aint real hard to get us out on the water.
I will request a "UPPER CUMBERLAND RIVER CRUISE 07" from our site managers for a sign up roster... and, post other information on that link.
