The JRC is a very good Radar. I prefer the 1715 Furuno, but the JVC 1500 Mod II is almost as good, and will be more than adequate for your trip. I believe that the JRC 1800 radar chart plotter has been discontinued--but it was also a good unit. JRC made the older Raytheon radars and had an excellent reputation. Since it is C map, it would be a backup for your other C map unit.

If you can buy a JRC 1800 radar/plotter/gps, go for it. I have one and it's a great unit. I still can't figure out why they quit building it. They also dropped the 1500. Can't be the display for the 1800, because they still have a plotter with the same size screen. In fact they only build expensive radars now, just like Raytheon.

I checked most of the online sources I deal with and none have the 1800.
Sometimes the large companies such as West Marine, Defender or Boaters World may have one of the units. I would check with a local West Marine or Boater's world. Have them search the data base. West Marine didn't normall stock the 1800, but some of the Boat US stores they bought out did and it is possiable that they could have one some where in a store.

I tried boatbandit.com for the JRC 1800cp and it added it to the cart but that's as far as I went since I'm not buying it at this time. Maybe you could try to purchase thru them. Try this link
