Some sanding to do then one or two more spray on coats to fill the pin-holes, more sanding and we should be ready for the gelcoat.

More photos in my album.

Question: the tape on the bottom in photos 49 &50 - just for grip when standing there?

Dave-

Fair warning!

Sooner or later someone's going to ask you what this attack of 2-footitis costs per foot, so keep your pencil sharp and your records complete!

Looks Great!

Joe.

Jim – that is what it is for. When we are sanding the bottom of the hull, there is dust/grit produced and it ends up under us. When we push up on a sanding stroke, we would end up pushing ourselves off the boat. The tape helps hold us in place.

Joe – if it was just the 24 inches added to the hull, it would not be so bad. It is all the other little things that are being changed out and new additions that keep adding to the cost.
Some are
Two 22.5-gal saddle fuel tanks
Networked Radar/GPS/Chart plotter/fish finder
Hydraulic steering
New Canvas Camper Cover
Engine controls throttle/shift linkage
Batteries house/start
Bow rail
Wiring and many miscellaneous parts/fittings/gauges
Extra trailer cross support and roller
Heavier load range trailer tires

I am afraid to total it up. I decided to just do it and not even think of the money because if I did, I would not be able to justify the cost.

I'll bet not exactly, but that she's thnking the extra two feet are so that Dave can add a MARINE TOILET, SHOWER, AND VANITY......FOR HER.

Which means Dave ought to CUT THE BOAT IN HALF AGAIN and add another TWO FEET for HER BOAT IMPROVEMENTS.

NOW TAKE THE ABOVE LIST OF COSTS AND MULTIPLY BY TWO.

Joe.

She knows I am working on the boat and that I am adding saddle tanks so we will have more room in back.

I am not telling her about the two feet. She will not have seen the boat for four months, so when she sees it again, maybe she will not notice the two feet. I will tell her that getting rid of all those portable tanks and adding saddle tanks made the extra room.

She wont believe me.

With this project, I can't afford a bar tab.

We are ready for the first coat of gel coat after a light sanding in the morning.

It is amazing on the amount of dust produced in this process. 80 feet on the other side of the shop even has a coating of dust.

Additional photos have been added to my album.

The first coat of gelcoat went on last night.

I am really getting antsy about getting the boat upright, so I can start on the inside. I figure I will miss the Poulsbo get-to-gather, but I do not want to miss the Cathlamet get-to-gather also.

So far I have not met many of my goals. I am way behind schedule, but the most important goal has been met. That is the quality of workmanship.

In order to make the addition imperceptible, we will have to add a few scratches on the bottom to match the front of the boat, where I have scratched it from running up on the beach.

Tomorrow we will roll it back over.

Photos have been added to my album.
