Anyone know the product # for the spin-on fuel filter the factory installs in the splash well of the 22? I need to replace mine this weekend, the boat is up in the islands, and I'm here in Seattle. Thanks, Mike. |

May not be factory install? I'd guess maybe whoever rigged the motors would have chosen what type. Just a guess.

I recently replaced the in line fuel filter (the plastic one under the motor cover) on our Honda 90 with a non-Honda (i.e., readily available and reasonably priced) part. It was Sierra PN 18-7786, West Marine SKU 3735909. The Sierra label says: "REPLACES HONDA 16900-SA5-004 BF35/45, BF40/50, BF75& BF90". _________________ 2003 CD22 Cruiser with Honda 90 |

I've just replaced both engine fuel filters, the plastic ones under the cowl with Honda parts. They were reasonable too, only 9 bucks or so each.
My bigger filters are in the stbd lazarette and are Sierra 18-7844. They are all metal, don't have the clear bowl beneath them. I've cleaned them many times by just unscrewing them and dumping into a pail for disposal. Just did both of them.

Does it have a clear bowl on the bottom as in Racor, or is it all steel like a automotive spin on oil filter?

Mine are located there as well. Do you also have a battery in that lazarette? Mine does, and I'm a bit concerned about changing them, and possibly spilling a bit of fuel in an area where a spark could occur. I suppose I could remove the battery before changing the filters. _________________ Snal~

Go to the Honda website, choose Honda Marine, go to assesories and select fuel systems. That should help you choose the correct part. |

Those spin on filters are NOT Honda parts. They were put on when the boat was rigged.
Yes, snal, I have a battery in there along with the 1-2-ALL switch. It's a group 27 battery too, larger than the normal one. I've changed/cleaned them many times, even spilled a little with no mishaps. If you're careful, you can do it without spilling but it's tricky. Just make sure to shut off the switch before you start so there are no sparks.
One of my projects this winter was going to be to move them out to the splashwell but now that I'm selling the boat, I'll let the new owner decide if he wants to do that or not.

Sounds just like my setup. My battery switch is in there also. I kinda like having them there VS the splashwell. The battery in that lazarette is inserted, then turned crosswise and strapped down...makes getting to the filters fairly easy. |
