Any suggestions -- the stainless rails make a gunwale mount impossible without altering the rails themselves . . . what have people found to be the best approach? |

Here is my solution on the TC255. I put the downrigger on top of the rail, along the radius, at the stern. I used starboard for the base and routed out the groove for the rail.

I can see how the first setup won't rotate on the rail, but how do you keep the second setup from rotating? |

Brent, how long is the downrigger boom on your boat? _________________ Hoping to own a CD-25 in the next 5-8 years. |

pauls-
I think the rail runs not only under the Starboard (plastic) base on the side, but that the radius turn and the cross-piece to the rear are also under that same plastic base, providing stability in both directions. The routing out of the plastic would have to include the curvature of the rail along the radius, making a 90 degree bend to match the rail shape.
