I've been thinking about purchasing a connector rod tieing the Kicker to the Main. I've searched different threads but need some definitive answers.

1. EZ Steer connector rods look good but are they worth $200?
2. Do the Cabelas connector rods do the job?
3. Can the Cabelas connector rods still be attached if the Main is tilted out of the water? Or do you need to disconnect them with the quick disconnects?
4. Does anyone know what connector rod the factory was using?

The steering rod in the photo I believe is called Goldeneye Panther Auxiliary Motor Steering Kit
http://www.edbydesign.com/books/B0009TPV1K.html It is similar to the original on Adeline(1989). It can be seen here http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album61&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php If you decide you want an EZ steer I have an "as new" one I'll let go for a hundred.

The Cabela's one looks just like the one pictured above. We had one on our last boat and it worked great. I think the stainless version form Cabela's is 50 bucks. Ours worked when main was in or out of the water.

Thanks fpr the offer, Pete. It's mighty tempting but I think I'm going to try the Cabelas connecting rod first. I think it's very similar to the one in your picture.

And thanks Rick. I'm also thinking about adding the TrollMaster Pro II found at Cabelas as well. It sounds like it works for you.
