...So, after being given to understand that I'd hear in about two weeks that my 20 gallon tanks were being shipped, I drained my tanks, and got them outta "Snowdon" so she was all set for bigger things. Two weeks went by, and just on general principals, I called yesterday to see where my tanks were. Uhhh, well, ahhh...maybe two more weeks...the factory is waiting for tanks for boats in production...yours may not be in the first delivery...(sounds like maybe more than two weeks, no?)...I moan about my boat sitting here ready for tanks, hey, what gives?...Ahhh, welll, uhhh...so-and-so's not in, we'll check with him and get back to you.
Bottom line--I'm not impressed. Does anybody out there have any idea what gives with C-Dory and fuel tanks these days? What IS the problem? But moreover, I would have liked a bit more straightforward info, if there was a problem with tank supply, before I stripped out both tanks thinking, like a fool, I guess, that this would be a simple operation. Ah, well. Nobody dies--or even gets nicked--so it's not a hugh deal, in the grand scheme of madness we call everyday life, yes?

I talked to a local chandler and got a recommendation of a local fabricator who is supposed to do good work--called him, described "Snowdon", and got a ballpark figure of about $750 or so for two new metal 25-gallon tanks, with guage senders installed. Hmmm--$500 for 20 gallon plastic factory tanks with no senders, maybe, hmmm, ...someday soon, or 50 gallons of useable gas, sometime in the next few weeks. What to do, what to do?

Sounds like a tankless job. One thing I really like about the plastic tanks is that you can look and see just exactly how much fuel you have in there...I think I'd buy local though...good luck, hope you get things squared away by boating season

Bearh, what did you finally do about the tanks? Maybe you posted it somewhere else and I missed it. Is Snowden still tankless?

Charlie--
Yessir, still without tanks installed. I have a call into the factory as I write waiting for this week's news about where all the tanks be. In the meantime, I got Snowdon serviced, a big Racor 320 water separator installed where I can see and get to it, and rigged for three portable tanks so they can feed through it to the engine. How're you? Looking forward to meeting you and Sally, either up here or down your way this June, if all goes well.
