Nobody paints the name anymore. West Marine and other marine stores have , I believe. Mylar that can be made up with your name and port of call. You have to clean and wax the surface it goes on. It is like a decal.. If you do not want to do it your self, check any sign painter in the area. They make the sign up using a computer and stick it on your boat. Very easy and not to expensive.
Good Luck,

Fred gives good info.
The "Jenny B" name was done by a local sign shop on marine grade vinyl for about $45 total. I put them on myself using the free "scraper" they gave me and their very easy instructions. Even a credit card will work to apply them, but I ain't allowed one. Sheesh, one shopping binge at West Marine and she gets all up tight.... _________________ Mary & Don Anderson

I used Prism Graphics. They are located at Westlake on Lake Union in Seattle. They do a good job. Here's their website.

Although it's on the wrong coast for you, many people buying C-Dories from Cutter Marine in Baltimore have their names painnted on by a very talented sign painter there.
The art of name painting boat names is not dead.
