Peter,
My wife asks me that about 3 or 4 times a week
Hopefully by the end of the month we will have a new engine installed and be ready to take a shake down cruise. Of course my taking off for a weekend of fishing sure doesn't help things!
The engine is ready to pull. I just need a clear day to do the work when my son is available. Then we'll rip the heads off and see how bad the damage is. I'll either rebuild the old block or get a short/long block from Chevy (or NAPA). All depends on how bad it looks. Plus I'll have a lot of wiring that needs to be done before putting the motor back in. Figuring out what to do with all the old fuel, mounting brackets for a full swimstep. Etc. Lots of work yet to do. This is not a project that will be done very fast as I'm doing it on the cheap. IE: We're having my son do most of the work and I'm helping as I can (Hard to do working 50-60 hour weeks!). _________________ Gary Johnson

Got an extra seat Dusty? I would love to get some shrimp while I'm up there! I'll try to swing by on Friday afternoon at least to say hello.
If you see a big crowd down by the launch having a potluck come on by. I'll be the fat one with the C-Dory hat. |

Sounds great Gary! I know you've been anxious to get on the water for awhile now. I know the feeling, there just aren't enough hours in the day. Keep us posted.

Crabbing season opened here in the Puget Sound on July 1. what a zoo at the local boat launches.we had about a 30 minute wait to launch our boat at 06:00 on Sat. morning.and at least that long to take the boat out 20 minutes later.there were so many rigs trying to get on and off the water.
I am totaly amazed at the abilities of some people when it comes to backing a trailer......lol......some of the best comedy can be had at your local boat launch....lol....
It was a successful weekend of crabbing for us. we ended the weekend with 51 dungees in the cookpot. we have enough for our July 4th party. it takes about 45 crab to feed everyone who attends. _________________ Roger on the "SENSEI"

I got out yesterday for a day of fishing and Crabbing on my friends 21' Trophy. We left out of Des Moines Marina where he moors his boat and dropped our pots about 5:45am. Then went up to Three tree point to try finding a salmon. About 9:00 am we pulled the pots and found 5 keeper Dungies and 3 keeper Red Rocks. We rebaited the pots and headed off to Point Robinson. Fished there until about 11 when Bruce got a phone call saying that some people had pretty good luck at Point Defiance so we decided to motor south and give it a try since we hadn't had any luck yet and it was a nice day. At about 4 we decided to head over to the ram and have a burger for lunch. After lunch we went up and pulled the pots. The first one was full of undersized and females and one keeper male. The next one only had 1 undersize crab in it yet all the bait was gone! Someone helped themselves to our pot! The third one was also full and had 4 keepers to finish off the day with our 2 limits of crab. We headed back to the marina and boiled up the crab on the dock.
While at Pt D I saw a 22 that was fishing near by but I couldn't make out the name on the side. I saw they had the net out once so I presume they got one! |

I read in the newspaper that people are supposedly getting some silvers out there. Anyone been out for any yet? It seems early, but I might give it a shot this weekend. I think I'll head out of Shilshole and try Wespoint or maybe toward Edmonds a bit.
Might try to bring my diving equipment and pick up some dungeys. I'm sick of playing WDFWs BS games, so I'm going to just go pick em up from now on since they don't really let us get an overnight soak in. |

Look for me camped in the Rosie D. on the north side of Yeomalt Point just about every week night that it doesn't blow north. If you don't mind pitching the kings, it's pretty good now and should be much better in the coming weeks.
Love to see another C-dory out there...I've had it pretty much to myself lately.

Alisa and I fished Possession Bar today for the opening of area 9. Weather was great, also saw Two Lucky Fish out there too. We fished the first half of the day on the west side with no luck so we decided to move to the east side. I noticed a lot of gulls working the area so we got our hopes up. Well within an hour and a half we had a limit of nice silvers (7-9 lbs). 2 were a double header that we landed both. We lost about 8 and also caught about 7 dogs. The dogs were very thick, you could see them by just looking down in the water.
The boat is running great and all went well. I had the software updated on my E-Tec 90 this last winter and it has fixed all the alarm and over oiling problems I was having. What a nice day on the water . Time to go get the BBQ going .

Nice Job Wayne. Sounds like a great day.
I think i'm going to take Friday off and fish off Westpoint. Sure sounds like the silvers are in early.
Those chums are fun to catch. They are real strong when they are fresh like that.
We'll see if I can scare anything up. I'll post a message Friday evening and let people know how we did. |

I also fished possesion yesterday, took my grandfather and my brother out. You couldn't ask for a better day on the water. It was glassy most of the day. Hooked into numerous fish, lost a ton of them during the fight, landed two good silvers and numerous kings that we had to release, up to about 14 lbs. Didn't limit but both guys with me never fish for salmon and even though they crackered lots of fish they did pretty well. Most fish came on the old trusty green and white coho killer, 45-55 feet down. I'll probably be out again friday afternoon and saturday or sunday. Oh and I got boarded by the coast guard too. Right as we were trying to pull our gear up so they could come along side my grandpa's rod goes off, and they had to wait while he fought a nice 8 lb king and released it. Then they made me put this huge waste placard on my boat? The sticker is huge what kind of lame rule is that? anyway a great day. Fished the past 5 days in a row now. Neah bay for 4 then one day in area 9. I'm ready for a rest.

Sounds like the placard requirement described here, but it's only supposed to apply to vessels 26' and longer. _________________

Huh, thats weird! That is what it was but they told me I had to have it if my boat was longer than 16 feet. They were telling me to put it on my glass door or on a window and I said no way my wife will kill me. Ended up putting it inside the cabinet doors under the wallas and they said that was OK. Maybe I'll just go rip it off if I don't need it. Other than that they were very nice.
