If anyone has replaced the rivets that hold the rub rail to the hull, what is the diameter and length of the rivets? _________________ Love the C-life |

This may not answer your question specifically, but may help. This is what I posted in another thread when I had to repair the rub rail on my 25.
"Finished up reinstalling my rubrail today. I ended up using ss machine screws, washers and nylon lock nuts. 1/4 x 20 x 1 1/4"."

I replaced what was left of my rivets with stainless steel binding posts and a sealing washer. This avoids the globs of sealant inside the boat (detailed on page 3 of this thread:

I removed the rivets ,most were broken off anyway.
The rivets use a steel mandrel. Bound to fail sooner or later.
Also riveted from the inside. Poor design in my opinion.
I Drilled the holes out with a 1/4 drill bit . Used 1/4 stainless steel bolts from the outside.
Lots of 4200 sealant with a medium stainless fender washer and stainless lock nut on the inside .
My wife held the bolt on the outside and I used a Dewalt driver with a socket on the inside to tighten them down.
Cut remaing bolt off with a cutting wheel .
Then with a vinyl glove on my hand, covered the inside nut and washer with 4200 to give them a smoother finsh. _________________ 2003 C25 |
