My motor cover has weather damage and I want to repaint it. Can someone tell me where to find the right “Honda silver” paint in a rattle can? Or something close to it? _________________ Now: 1983 22’ C-Dory Classic, 2001 Honda 90hp

I have used a rattle can. Sand cowl where it is faded (mine was just on the top), so I masked this off). Start with 320 on up to a 600, 1200 and 3000 wet and dry paper. Keep the paper wet--I did it all by hand.
Then a plastic primer and silver--there was a Rust-Oleum for plastic which was very close to my 2006-90 hp. Moeller and Honda OEM both make several different silvers by year. Then a clear coat and blend it in with light sanding at the edge where the tape was. _________________ Bob Austin

I recently re-painted the lower cover on my 2013 silver Honda BF135's. I used Moeller Marine 025516 Engine Paint Color: Honda Oyster Silver Metallic and Moeller Marine 025519 Clear Coat Lacquer both in spray cans. It was pretty easy job, most of the old paint peeled right off with some compressed air, then a light sanding. The silver speckles in the paint match the OEM surprisingly well and the clear coat helps the color match a bit better. It's not a 100% match, probably a 95% match and if you do an entire part (rather than a spot repair) it looks totally fine. The paint is easy to work with and it's a pretty quick job. |
