Well Dave, it's hard sayin not knowin. There are a thousand reasons why some folks aren't there. I think some of it may be the way the WDFW is scheduling the salmon seasons. It's hard to plan a fishing/boating vacation if you don't know when the seasons will be. Same goes with the crabbing, shrimping seasons. A day here a day there it's crazy. We like to go if there is a season going on as an added bonus to our trip. As for our trip this August was pretty much cancelled for medical issues. Hopefully maybe we'll go in September. We haven't done a September trip yet but heard its a pretty good time to go. Good weather and not much competition for state park docks.
One other factor I've heard is that a ton of people are up in Desolation Sound and the Gulf Islands with the exchange rate making moorage more attractive.
Enjoy your trip. _________________ Dave

Man I think that you nailed it perfectly! Basically area 7 is closed for fishing, prawning almost non existent, you can crab 5 days out of 7 which I really enjoy.
Don’t know about the Canadian side did that last year and ran into a water problem.
I’m thinking next year about heading back up to the Broughtons and spend the summer, I still have a lot to see up there.
Thanks for your input it makes perfect sense. |

Dock Holiday and crew are finishing two weeks in Desolation Sound. We saw one other C-Dory by Gorge Harbour, but that was it for the C-Dory sightings. We saw more whales than ‘Dorys. We are currently headed to Ganges.
Cheers,
