My 1989 Angler has a metal screw drain plug located where the cabin meets the cockpit. I have always left the plug in, but I am curious about its purpose. Can you tell me more about why this drain hole is important? |

I suspect if you take this plug out, when the boat is In the water, the whole ocean will come in thru this hole!
It would be a "garboard drain plug". The location is where the water collects when the boat is on a trailer. In that case, then any water coming into the cockpit would drain out. Just remember to put the plug back in before launching--just like the transom drain plug (if you have one). _________________ Bob Austin

I have a 16 Cruiser but from pictures I've seen the Angler has a raised floor in the cabin. The drain plug is to stop water from rushing from the back of the boat under your feet through the hole into the dry storage in front of your helm. However removing the plug will let you drain the storage area if water does accumulate inside. |
