Hey All,

Time to name my new 22' Cruiser. My 2005 16' Cruiser was named Rabbit's Hutch. She was on the water for 2 mos before being sold.

Can the new boat be named Rabbit's Hutch as well? Bad luck? Does it matter?

Must she be Rabbit's Hutch II ??

Look forward to your ideas on this thread...

Thanks,

Gary R.

I don't see why you can't call it whatever you choose. I think you make your own luck, it's not inherited from anything. Having been to the land of the sand, as you were, and returned unscathed, I think you have all the luck you need.

Since it's a 22 and not a 16 like you had before, there won't be two "Rabbits Hutches" around the same size and, as long as you're not boating in the same area, unlikely to run into it again anyway.

How about C-Rabbit? Or Crabbit....

The old name must have some significance for you, make yourself happy....Hows the nurse? Female

Daydream 22 was de-named and Daydream 25 was then christened. (I am at the Poulsbo gathering at this moment right next to Daydream!) I think a boat Reverend is supposed to be involved - one could probably conjure up a de-naming ceremony over the Internet to get the job done if you don't have a Reverend nearby. I'm sure proper procedure will be revealed soon on this thread....

After much discussion, thought and going round, my spouse, our child and I agreed to name our new 22 Dawn Treader, the same as our 18 foot sailboat. (From Voyage of the Dawn Treader of the Chronicles of Narnia.) The others liked it right away. My hesitation was that I didn't want a II after it. They agreed to drop the II and we had concensus.

There is a de-naming and naming doc in the docs section of this site. My 22 was Anna Leigh. After de-naming her we will christened my 25 with the same name. It was either that or have my grand-daughter change her name to match something I might chose for the boat.

There will be a christening ceremony at the Lopez CBGT in May. The Very Nautical Reverand Jim (Laurna Jo) will also do the de-naming if anyone needs it.

I thought you only had to dename a boat before giving it a new name, not giving a different boat the same name. Is there some rule against having two boats with the same name?

I'm most confident that whoever purchased my 16' cruiser last summer took her name off the hull....

So there shouldnt be another c-dory with the same name...

Speaking from the C-Brat Pulpit, Since the new boat dodin't have a name all you need to do is a Christenng for it.

As off my game as I was in Poulsbo(my brain was having senior moments), I think any good Boater Baritone in Gary's area can recite the solemn ceremony.

My thoughts are to make sure ya toast, sip a lot , and have greenery on the bow, and pour liquids on her.
Then send the pertinent information, date ,boat name, family name to us, the Laurna Jo, with an address and we will send the official C-Brat Document in return.
