Greetings Bratly Ones,
Allow me to introduce myself: Phil Lansing, based in SW Idaho. I just acquired a 2012 Cruiser 22 with twin Yamaha 50s; looking forward to exploring local lakes and the B.C. coast.
My salt water experience was mainly in Alaska, commercial fishing out of Naknek on Bristol Bay. On the fresh I canoed many whitewater rivers over the years, including the Salmon and Selway here in Idaho and the Nahanni and Burnside in the Northwest Territories. So I have enough knowledge to get in real trouble on the water! Fortunately my wife Sally came to our marriage armed with a Coast Guard license and common sense.
A Cruiser 22 seems a lot less work than a commercial gillnetting boat and ever so much more comfortable than a canoe camp in the wilds. Sally and I are looking forward to time on the water and meeting Brats. We are grateful for the information this site provides. -Cheers, Phil |

Welcome Phil and Sally and congratulations on the purchase of your 2012 C-Dory. Consider coming to the annual C-Brats get together next May 11 to 14 at Friday Harbor, Wa. on San Juan Island. Last year we had about 30 boats participate and it was a lot of fun. A formal announcement for this event will be made on a new post in early January. For many, including ourselves next year, Friday Harbor will be a start to the boating season for those heading into Canada after the event. _________________ Gary F

Welcome Phil. We are just up the road from you in Grangeville. Tell us about your Cdory. Between you and another new Cbrat in McCall with Serenity, we could have a Cbrat gathering on Payette Lake. 🙂 |

Welcome Aboard--and if the winter gets too severe, we have boats from Montana, Wyoming etc which come to Florida for our gathering in March--on their way to other areas of warm weather country. _________________ Bob Austin

Wow. C-Brats really are friendly! Thanks for the warm welcome and invitations.
Friday Harbor sounds like a great place in May, Daybreak. I really like the idea of a small gathering on Payette Lake, KenHarriet. Duck Bay perhaps? We should wait for ice-out, I suppose.
Our current draft plan for summer is to trailer to northern Vancouver Island and explore protected waters. We'll likely start with Esperanza Inlet. Very much open to suggestions. Our Cruiser 22 was built in 2012. She had little use and was stored indoors. We feel lucky to have found her. The prior owner did not name her so we're having a name that boat contest. The top contender to date is "Stewbudge". |

Welcome Phil and Sally!!I am hoping you will love your new to you boat! Going to sound strange, but you can also get used to your boat by using it as an RV. We are in Central Texas and went to the Florida gathering (3 day drive) and used the boat in RV parks, and practiced our cooking, sleeping, living in the boat and learned some valuable lessons before we ever got on the water.
As far as the name goes, many have done the “C- xxxx”but I chose not to. Before you get sold on a name, try saying it out loud 3 times, as if you were calling it on the radio. Some work out better than others.
Best of luck, and welcome to your next adventure! _________________ CD 22 “Saint Somewhere” 2020 - Present

Congratulations on your purchase.
I recently sold my 22 foot cruiser to a real nice person in MO, after 18 years of ownership. I was blessed during this time to experience more adventures in C-Batical than I would experienced in the 40 foot boat that was my dream.
Wishing you well in your adventures. You will be pleasantly surprised as to the great characteristics of this fine boat.

Welcome to the group and good to have ya! Hope to see you out on the water one day. I originally misread your boat name as "Stewbudgie" as in Stewed Parakeet which really cracked me up! _________________ Steve & Joanie

Might want to consider how that name might sound over a mediocre radio signal. |

Welcome! We’re fairly new CD22 owners and have had two enjoyable seasons on the upper Chesapeake Bay with two week-long trips to the St Lawrence River.
It’s a great vessel — economical, sturdy, seaworthy, and just looks cool.

The instructor for my radio operators license told us we should say the name of our boat 3 times out loud to ourselves to see how it would sound being transmitted over the air perhaps during a moment of stress which can in turn stress our vocal cords.
Regards,
