boat inspection in New Orleans

Hello, all. I have been a lurker here for several years but have finally decided to take the plunge on a 22 cruiser. I am interested in the boat currently advertised in the "C-dories for sale" forum, in New Orleans. I am in Delaware. I am a little intimidated by the marine surveyors in NO, who all seem to do commerial stuff. I don't even require a full survey, but I do need someone to take a look, tap the transom with a screwdriver handle, and tell me whether there are fundamental problems with the boat. Does anyone know of a small-boat surveyor or boatyard person I could hire to check out the boat for me? I basically need an unbiased set of eyes to look her over for me. I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks!
