Took us a few years and several other boats but a 22 Cruiser is finally in the driveway here in Maine! Put her in the water this morning for the first time, old 75hp Honda runs ok, though I'm used to at least a 90 on these boats, would prefer a 115, and fuel injection, but what can I say, the price was right.
We intend to do a bit of island hopping and lake exploration this summer all around Maine. Looks like we are underrepresented in the Northeast. No-one realizes the value of a hard top up here!
Already have learned a lot from this forum, have rewired new trailer lights, new navigation lights, refilled power trim, new Chartplotter, next to bleed the trailer brakes, it goes on and on. But thanks for the help c-brats! |

NECoastie, Welcome. Yup, there is value to that hardtop. AND, it is a great investment in peace of mind, sanity and wonderful memories. Congratulations on making a great choice.

Welcome aboard. If the C Dory boats were built in Maine, they would be so thick you could not stir them with a stick. It's a great boat for Maine waters. We were happy to have a pilot house when we sailed up to Maine. _________________ Bob Austin

What did you pick for a chartplotter and why? Where did you mount the transducer? |

I got the Simrad NSX 9” chart plotter. They are brand new and run on Android, went for a transom mount chirp transducer. I was close to getting a Garmin, but it was going to cost more. The Simrad will do any navico radar, and an autopilot someday. |

Hello NECoastie! We do a lot of island hopping out of S. Gouldsboro on Frenchman Bay, where are you cruising from? We've had our Widget for 20 years and it is the perfect boat for day & 3-4 overnight cruises on the coast of Maine (& Moosehead Lake). Could never understand why some local dealer did't pick these boats up. If they were put in some of the local boat shows I'm sure people would flock to them. The cabin with a heater extends your cruise season by ~8 weeks. There are about 8-10 C-Dorys in Maine but only 2 of us active on the C-brats site. _________________ Moxieabs on WIDGET |
