How does everyone clean the sunbrella cockpit cover?
I have been mostly laying it out and scrubbing by hand with brush and boat soap or dish soap.on occasion put it in extra large washer at laundromat then hang to dry..an upholstery shop told me that's a no no..not sure why that would hurt it just tumbling in washer.
Either way I can't ever get mildew stains off the underside.our canvas is dark green.
Opinions? Thanks

Put the canvas on the grass. To remove grime and mildew,
use a power washer/sprayer, carefully at first until you find
the sweet spot in the water stream for the fabric.

Aye.

I have a dark green Sunbrella full cover for my boat. I simply don't worry about any stains on the underside.

About every other year I spread it out on the driveway, spray it with the hose and go over it with a scrub brush. Once it dries, I spray it with 303 Fabric Protectant.

We yearly clean the mooring cover. Use 303 fabric / vinyl cleaner (approved by Sunbrella) for spot cleaning. We use woolite soap or Ivory flakes--Dawn is usable currently also.). You can add bleach to the water (1 cup per gallon)

We have done both the washing machine for small pieces (but not dryer) and scrub on the driveway.

Here is the link to all stains sunbrella.

After throughly air dried, we spray with 303 fabric guard. NOT the 303 vinyl aerospace protectorate. We buy it by the gallon and use sprayer from Home Depot--either hand held, or garden sprayer. Doing this the Sunbrella should last over 10 years.

303 also makes a spray mold cleaner and mold preventer.

I have had success in using straight distilled vinegar and sunshine on mold and mildew stains/smells. Just lay out on a tarp, spray on vinegar and scrum stains with a soft brush. The key is to leave it in the sun for several hours after applying. Heavy stains may take 2-3 applications.

Otherwise we've used 303 Fabric Cleaner- multi surface 9also safe for the isinglass) and 303 Fabric Protectant for years. Fabric Protectant will restore the color and really extend the life of the Sunbrella. I apply with a 6in roller with thick nap, it allows you to really saturate the fabric with less waste- this stuff is $$.
