Definitely insane. Interesting comments under the clip. FWIW, going to the youtube channel, it's called:

White Water Jetboating
Unprofessional River Running
and Commentary.

Still looks fun. Wonder if it's deep enough for a regular outboard on a fiberglass boat. Mr. Green

Had a river runner before the C-Dories. Was not on that section but
lots of places on the Salmon, Snake, Payette, Clearwater and so on. Outboards can work if replace the lower unit with a jet foot. Lots of duck hunters do this. Fiberglass doesn’t work so well. If you do happen to hit, there is bigger repair issue, with aluminum you usually just rip it or dent it and usually you can get back to the ramp. Might have to stay on plane until you get there. Loved our days on the River, but C-Dory days were good too. I wouldn’t trade one for the other.

We're river rats now, most of our boating is on the Suwanee and Santa Fe river systems in North Florida these days. Obviously less extreme than this video, but there's some shoals and rapids that aren't passible without local knowledge and the right boat. We tried to make the best of it with our 22' C-dory but it really wasn't the right boat. We had a slow speed incident with a large rock on the Suwanee river that prompted an early departure to the boat ramp. An easy fiberglass fix but was a wakeup call for a more suitable boat.

So now we run an 18' aluminum pontoon boat, with a 40hp outboard. We trim the motor up and the skeg and pontoons bounce along the rocky river bottom like an old jeep climbing a mountain. The pontoons don't displace hardly any water, and it can go most anywhere any gheenoes or kayaks go. When I get stuck on the rocks, usually a push pole will get me pushed off and back in the current.

The long term goal is to be able to camp on it like we did our c-dory. We'll probably get another c-dory one day when retirement is closer, but for now we're really digging this river life.
