My C-dory 22ft Classic had a heartbreaking meeting with a ditch and pavement at approx 45-50mph. (Luckily no one was hurt). It's one tough boat and is still repairable. The transom I had just redone with Seacast survived undamaged!
My Yamaha 115hp made it through with just some scrapes on the cowling). The hull has some scrapes and a couple gouges that need repair, but they are fixable. The cabin was pretty much completely crushed but luckily all still there.
Does anyone know of any salvage C-dory's? I need aluminum window frames (front 3 and the 2 sides), a new bow railing, and new rails for the top. The windows are going to be the tough one. I can get by w/o a bow rail for now and can make top rails if need be. I have the crushed cabin almost repaired, but those window frames are toast. I will probably get some polycarbonate to bolt on for now. She's going to be a bit ugly for awhile but our summers are short and "pretty" will likely have to wait until after fishing season. The trailer was toast as well, and already sold for parts, so if any AK C-dory owners know anyone selling a good trailer let me know. |

That hurts just reading about it!
Ouch!
I once dropped a bowline on the freeway and ran over it with trailer
It bent my stainless railing all to heck
I feel your pain my friend!
At least it’s fixable

Some of the window builders can replicate the older patterns, or you could use newer windows, as I suspect you are re-gel coating or painting oner the repaired areas. The problem is $$$$$..
I used Polycarbonate on my Cal 46--no opening windows--using a structural silicone. We spaced the window about 3/32 off the glass with small pieces of cork gasket material, and flowed the adhesive (special and I don't have the product # at hand, but used for Megayachts) to hold the slightly darkened Polycarbonate in place. We used special plastic finish washers, and over drilled the holes to allow for expansion. There was a black button which snapped over the plastic finish washer to give a very professional appearance. The adhesive was so tough that even 7 years later a small amount which got on a piece of SS rigging was still there. Lots of masking tape outside edges, and kept the protective covering inside and out until the adhesive was setting well--then cut with razor knife. _________________ Bob Austin
