-- If you follow Patrick Childress and his wife Rebecca on their YouTube channel as they cruise on a Valiant 40, you may not have heard that Patrick just died from
Covid-19. Both he and his wife had the virus but only he did not make it. She is in South Africa and will have a tough row to hoe. YouTube at:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC7DRvfDAoFn5eMyfTnaA8w/videos
-- Here is the link to the GoFundMe account that the cruising community filled up to meet Rebecca's cash needs.

-- I know that if one of our C-BRAT families needed a hand, we would all step in and help out.
-- Patrick was a real hands on kind of guy, we can act like this virus is just another cold but it is a bit more than just a sniffle or two.

Bob,
Thank you for putting this up. It is a very sad story. Your point about COVID 19 not being another flu, is spot on.

The name sounded so familiar--and I was not sure I could place him. Then I looked at one of his videos and checked my logs. We had crossed paths several times in the 1980 when crossing oceans.

Such a loss. A strong man who appeared to be healthy.

Very sad, before YouTube I followed his articles for years and always enjoyed them.

Micah and Dana, I assume RN is Retired Navy but if one or both of you is a nurse, still two great letters after your names. The great folks that worked the boat shows, yacht clubs, and GGA meetings are all passing. Michael Walsh of Beach and Coastal Camping passed in 2018, I never tired of Phil Bolger's writings and miss him, Dynamite Payson passed in 2011, Dave Getchell of Small Boat Journal/Maine Island Trail died not long ago and some other toughest of the bunch such as Larry Pardee is getting like us, still cooking but a bit longer in the tooth. Seems like there is a bit less of the hands on, I did it and now want to share it type of mentorship in the boating world but then our little C-BRAT corner is still old school. If you have not been there, Jennie's ifish web page (https://www.ifish.net/) is full of good folks. Now that I think about it, maybe the good side is bigger than I thought, just gone DIGITAL. May you all enjoy your summer safe and healthy. I am so grateful to have the privilege of being a C-BRAT!!!! Bob Jarrard
