Vessel assist Ventura just posted pictures of a Tomcat 255 sunk dockside. Check your scuppers. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-qf6XOATzu/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link I think the owner is on here. I tried to message him to let him know i could use my trailer to haul him out if needed. If anyone knows them please pass that on. _________________ Conrad Metzenberg

Tom, you are right, at least from what we can tell from the photos.
That is a serious bummer. Let's see how TowBoatUS/Geico does here.
Conrad, Nice of you to offer. Sure hope he gets that out OK. Good warning.

I did a sea trial with the original owner. He sold the boat some years ago. She had a dive compressor under the aft cockpit seat--quite heavy. Not sure how many owners since.
Sad to see--probably an insurance write off, especially if water in the engines. Hopefully the current owner will speak up. At a slip should have had power hooked up and bilge pumps on when a leak occurred??
We all should secure all thru hulls under the water closed when leaving the boat in the water. _________________ Bob Austin

I've been in contact with the boats owner. Ironically he's a BoatUS captain. She's hauled out down in Ventura. He doesn't know the cause yet but thinks it's the scuppers. |
