Providence Medical needs people who can sew and have access to a sewing machine to help them make 100 million med masks. They will provide the materials to make 100. You pick that up and sew away...

https://www.providence.org/lp/100m-masks

This is a a skill I wish I had...

I just signed up. Waiting for them to get back to me. Susan will show me how and I will knock them out.

Just tried. The site now says: ". . . all kits we are producing have been claimed." Apparently they are already out of the materials for volunteers to use?

I like that idea. Sent your link along to my wife who runs the website for Univ. of KY HealthCare and she said she'd pass it up the chain there...

Thanks

The link currently seems to have instructions for face shields--not masks, currently. Face shields are often used with face mask

I did find a link for Deaconess Hospital Health Systems on how to sew a face mask. The video gives specific sewing instructions. I would modify that by back sewing at the elastic corners since this is a common point of failure of these masks. This is not a N95 level mask (the N95 has two versions--one is with an exhalation valve and one without, and filters out 95% of particles down to 0.3micron in size.)

The cotton mask is made to be disposable, and one time use. It will block droplets and some aerosol type of materials.

Simple two piece cotton face mask.

Here is another link by CDC about "limited reuse" of N 95 (and includes other types of masks in limited conditions)

Be safe.

I saw on the news that some places are using home made mask (covers) over the N-95's, so that they can us the N-95's for more than one patient contact by disposing of the cover mask.

We are nearly out of N95's at work. Very disconcerting. We have about 80 left at my work location and those have been put under lock/key, as people were hoarding them. Now only Sgts and above have access to them and we will hand them out judiciously. I've been told by our supply unit that they have no idea when/if we will get more.
