Wesley, is that 1000 launch on Friday? I might think about launching there as well. I'm guessing you are talking about 30 river miles. Is your 3 hours based on planning speed or slow cruise Also, do you know if there is a wash down/engine rinse spot at Kalama? Marina contact info?
Just in case....

You're bringing kids to a CBGT?!?
Wonderful! Cathlamet is a great place for kids. I have had my grandkids there several times and in another year or two my great grandkids will be old enough to go.
It won't be warm enough this early in spring but in the summer there is plenty of shallow water on the shoreline for wading and rock throwing and crawdad hunting. Even now there are plenty of things they can find to do and a neat trail into the little town you can take them on with cool things to see on the way.
I am guessing Makayla and Logan are kids. How old? Maybe I should have Lois bring some grandma stuff. _________________ TyBoo Mike

Our kids wouldn't have it any other way! Makayla and Logan are 14 and 11, respectively. Our oldest, Cedric, is 17 and has never enjoyed boating or fishing. He's always welcome, but will opt out if given the choice. He also has work obligations and is more than capable of looking after himself now. Hard to believe he'll be moving out in about six months time... _________________ Clay on Hammerhead

Harvey, yes on the Friday 10 am launch from Kalama. It is about 40 river miles. We will be taking the main channel around the west side of Puget Island, then turn SE to Cathlamet. It’s a few extra miles, but I’m still in the “give me lots of fathoms” mode of operation, especially on my first trip to the area.
Karen and I take turns at the helm. With me at the helm, Zenith swims along nicely at 4,000 rpm. With calm winds and a 2 mph tail current, our ground speed is 20-22 mph. Karen enjoys a slower speed. I don’t think it will take a full 3 hrs to get there.
The Port of Kalama phone # is 360-673-2325. I don’t recall seeing a wash down at the ramp. The address is 110 W Marine Dr. , 98625
I am not firm about 10 am, and we could launch later if it works better for you after your drive from home. |

Wesley, No need to launch later for me. I will stay in touch here, and let you know. I may have some company with me so my timing may have some deviation.... But then it can be that way anyway,
I just called the Port of Kalama, Katie, and it sounds very good. A transicent dock for $10.50 for under 30 feet., and parking and launch is free, BUT, you have to get a parking pass from the office, M-F 8-5. It is right next to the McMinimans Restaurant.

Ok gang...Amy, Teddi (11 year old chocolate labradoodle) and I are tentatively planning on attending....getting rather excited to say the least.
We do have the boat up for sale but are actually kind of hoping it doesn’t sell soon so we can use for Cathlamet and Friday Harbor. Please don’t count us fully in yet....thx...
Yes Tyboo Mike....I saw your post: “I am trying to roust Crazy Frazey out of his shell too. He and I have talked about meeting up at that place in Kalama”.
I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting some new ones!!!!!
Hoping this plan comes together!!!

Hey John, I sure hope you all can make it. I haven't seen Teddy in like forever. You and I we get to talk on the phone -- occasionally but I have been missing Teddy.
Hope to CU soon.

Today I made my RV reservation. Won't have my boat with me,
but will stop by on the way up. The gal at the Elochman Marina office was very accomodating. Looking forward to seeing the gang! |

Wesley, Do we need to call ahead for a dock reservation priot to arrival? If you posted that, I missed it. Just went back and re-read the thread. Didn`t find it and can't remember if I asked at the office.
Thanks so much.

With all the great comments in this thread, it's easy to over look one from the past.
We have all of E dock reserved, so no slip calls are needed. Each boat captain will register separately at the office when you arrive. There is power and water at this dock. |

I'm getting kind of excited to get on the water and visit some old and new friends, it's been a long time. I should have all of the stupid tubes removed from my body and be feeling human by then.....don't worry I don't think cancer is contagious.
You've done a fine job of conjuring this up and orchestrating it PNW_W.
If a Saturday evening potluck is in the woks I can bring some Halibut and rock fish.
If the spousal unit has that Friday off, and we get going early enough out of Ridgefield, we may catch up to you Kalama Kruisers
later,
