Well you can all quess that I love to fish and boat. I have been around small boats and fishing of some sort my whole life. susan and I use to ski a lot in the winter but have not gone in the last three years. growing up close to tahoe really spoiled us on that front. last years low snow level keep us and most in washington from skiing. We are planning a trip to crystal mountain in a few weeks. They have a lot of snow this year.

Susan likes to play dress up and act so we both were involved in renissonsce groups. she was in the Ren fair group and I was in the S.C.A. which is a lot more fun then her group, but since we moved to washington that has gone to the wayside. We were also involved in a western gun fighting out fit called the sierra outlaws. We did parades and street fairs. It was a lot of fun doing shoot outs and train robberys, but nothing like that here. We are getting into hunting this year. We have a elk hunt planned for next season and I want to start bird hunting so I need a duck boat.

We both have done a lot of 4-wheeling in the sierras. Susan has done the rubicon in her toyota several times. We love high mountain lakes and camping. We have not done as much dancing as we use to either. the last few years have been lots of hard work and boating. In the last three years we have moved twice, changed jobs, quit and gone to school, quit school and gone back to work, bought a house, bought a boat, sold an boat, bought a c-dory, bought a drift boat , oh yeah and we got married. some day we will slow down life and get back to having more fun. Susan also scubas, but not in the last three years. so much to do and so little time and money.

Hunting, RV'ing, country and bluegrass music (been awhile since I've picked up the guitar, have an acoustic/electric Applause) I used to do a lot of country dancing.
Dabbled at "roots", tracing ancestry- so far my brother and I have gone back 7 gens to the first King that came over from England back in 1772.

When we have enough $$ scraped together, we like to visit out of the way places in Mexico. Other than that, there is fly tying, rod building, the first stages of stained glass making, volunteering at the UAF museum as a "docent," lots of sewing (mostly for grandbabies,) planning and going on cheap fishing trips around Alaska with old friends from "outside," messing around with an old boat and the continual DIY projects to be found in an aging log house. Retired? Crook

I retired from work as I just ran out of time to go to work and something had to give.... I restore/rebuild and generally play with 4 Model A Fords..2 roadsters...(one with a 4cylinder diesel) a roadster pick-up and a phaeton...

I restore old BMW motorcycles....and ride a old rig with a sidecar (has a later motor/trans etc.) lots of motorcycle camping... The dog and I do that...Susan and the kids just laugh and point

Guns.... You Bet... lots of em.... Nathan my son is a gunsmith and keeps me in toys.... I don't hunt.... (I did shoot a Buffalo several years ago) mostly I just scare cans and targets.

Fishing and Scuba diving.... I still own the commercial diving business...and play at that when I feel like getting wet....I do some fishing but my ketch record is not so great...

Jeeping....I have a super jeep and I love to drive back roads and explore out in the woods.... we have a cabin in the woods so I don't have to drive that far.... (da deep woods)

And lastly....but maybe mostly I love to play on da boat... I have a 22' tug in the mountains with a 3 cylinder diesel...it really is slow and heavy just perfect for the diving business....and the C-Dory that we travel with...
kinda like "Have Boat Will Travel"

Sue makes me check in at least once a month or she worries.

Can you explain this term: "non-boating interests"??? Crook

Sailing, RVing (seems to be a pretty common thread here), motorcycling, chasing the Blonde (she occasionally lets me catch her). Photography has been our livelihood for the past 31 years, but it isn't our hobby. Now, I am spending a LOT of time learning about these boats with big motors (yeah, I know that's a relative term) and helm stations out of the weather. Very Happy Oh, and searching out new places to explore by boat!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Good thread! For me, in no particular order:
1. Being out on the water - C-Dory, kayak, inflatable, whatever
2. Dogs
3. Watching wild critters and birds
4. Reading - fiction mostly, non-fiction on foreign policy, military, intelligence, history, philosohy, religion
5. Kids - sharing time with them, introducing them to new things, watching them grow
6. Wife - like kids, a lot more than a hobby, but she's more fun, interesting, challenging, and rewarding than anything else on the list!
7. Travel - seeing new places and experiencing the bad and the ugly as well as the good.
8. Public speaking - high school groups, Ph.D's, elderhostels - whatever the audience, I get a kick out of engaging with groups on topics that I (hopefully!) know something about
9. Motorcyles
8. Off-road driving
9. Camping

Besides spending countless hours on this site, here's what I do for fun:

1) I've played Jazz Keyboards for the past 10 years and head my own contemporary jazz quartet. We actually have a nice following. Smile
2) Have been an avid baseball (Mariners) fan for years. Use to play quite a bit of softball and baseball. Might have to join one of those old geezer leagues one of these days.
3) Been following the Seahawks alot lately too. Go Seahawks-beat them Steelers!
4) Dancing. I met Caryn while taking salsa dance lessons three years ago. We're planning on starting swing classes soon.
5) Travel. Love to travel, going to Hawaii in March CoolSmile Go to Cali to visit my large family. Might have to take C-Dancer to the delta one day.

Very Happy I have been retired for 10 yrs. I usually get up late, start out my day real easy......then taper off.

We have 2 new grandsons that are 1st for attention.

We do a lot of 5th.whl RVing to Mexico in the winter.(7 trips)

Also build fishing rods to use on the C-Dory in the summer. All of our sons and wives have new rods also. I do not sell them.

My son and I own an almost perfect original 1959 Lincoln Premire which we work on and show on various occassions. Picture in my album.

We have a 2nd home on the beach that requires my attention and is where the C-Dory lives and is where fishing rods are built.

My wife is a quilter, does geneology and keeps me in line.

I "putz around" on the internet doing this and keeping track of my $$$$.

Life has been real good to us so far and hopefully will continue. Very Happy

This winter I have been chasing a new replacement for my C-Dory. The replacement is a 26' ProAngler C-Dory. Hopefully it will work out.

1. Patty, Barrett, Lydia and Austin. Don't see the older kids nearly enough anymore, it is totally a kick having Austin.
2. Daydreaming. Not sure this is actually a non-boating interest, though!
3. The brewery.
4. Music, just started picking up the guitar again myself since Austin discovered it. Currently playing a cheap Mexican nylon stringed guitar while the Martin D18 I have had since high school is getting the neck adjusted. I can't carry a tune and have no sense of rhythm, but what the heck I have fun.
5. Motorcycles formerly. Selling them off, two gone, one to go (a 1982 Silverwing single-seat touring bike, 500 cc, make offer!) Patty hates the bikes and I have no time, so what's the point...
6. Computer programming formerly. No time now. First Quick BASIC, then Turbo Pascal, finally Delphi (sort of Visual Turbo Pascal). The Evil Empire has ruined everything, resistance is futile.
7. Patty has recently taken up knitting in a big way.
