Will be picking up our "New to Us" C-23 end of Oct. Traveling from St. Louis to Bend Oregon and back. Any interesting places to stop and boat on the return trip? Hate to drive all that way and not stop to take in some sights. |

A lot depends on what route you are taking. I would at least do a run on the Mississippi River, lets say from Alton, Il to Grafton,Il. Have lunch at the Winery on the hill, and run back. Also a good "sea trial" on the boat, with pleasure.
There are a number of large lakes not too far off the path--Lake of the Ozarks would be on my list. But you are nearing time of the year, when Northers begin to come down--and it may be blistery...
If you are gong I 80/84, you are not too far from Lake Powell. (Bull Frog). It is late in the season, and there will be few boats/services. Anywhere along this route it may be cold/ice/snow.
If you are going further South, then there would be a different set of suggestions. _________________ Bob Austin

If weather sends you south into northern California instead of towards Salt Lake I80/70 route to St Louis, Lake Shasta is gorgeous and should be pretty low crowds that time of year.
We took the I80/70 route before and I don't remember at any time thinking I wish Id had the boat. _________________ 2007 22 cruiser sold 10/2021

Depends on your exact route and your tolerance for deviations.
You can boat in the CD-23 almost anywhere. |

Not all that far north of Bend, the Columbia River. Launch at Arlington and you can go up or down river from there. Not far from your pick-up place. And weather depending of course.
