I'm looking at a 1987 cdory angler 22ft. As you all know the center windshield is fixed. Are there replacement windows that I can put in that open like on the newer ones? |

Yes, you can replace the fixed window with an opening one. All you need is money. _________________ Bob Austin

I wonder if the opening centre window option
would also fit my 1981 Classic?
I am not aware that window sizes changed in ‘87

Replacement via Diamond Sea Glaze, or alternate marine window maker. To be certain, take the measurements off your boat. As I recollect, a little material had to be removed to make the opening center window fit. |

I sent Diamond Sea Glaze an email a few days ago requesting a quote for an opening center window for my '89 22 cruiser. I'll post up the details when I get a reply. |

So, the quote I got from DSG came in at a little over $1000 after crating, import duty, shipping, etc. OUCH!
I then contacted Motion Windows in Vancouver WA and they came in at $700 to my door. Still a hefty sum but not quite as bad. The only problem here is all my window frames are just anodized alum (so, silver color) and due to some welding on the frame Motion can't match. Only option is a powder coated frame. The standard color is black but they can do grey (my boat trim is grey) for a $80 up charge. Grrrrrrrrrr...
Sooooo, how bad do I want a front opening window? |

On my boat the front window is at least partially open at all times except when water is coming over the bow. With the back door open it provides a very nice airflow through the cabin. |

In 2003 on the way back home from our first SE Alaska & Yukon River Cruise we stopped at the old Kent, Washington C-Dory factory site & they installed a new center window for $350 with us arriving without prior notice, making for a very good deal & us happy customers. The new window turned out to be an expensive addition the following year, when we left it open for filming while exiting Fords Terror In SE Alaska. The salt water which came through the window like a fire hose discharge from the unexpected severe rapids cost us about $4000 in destroyed electronics. During the years after this experience, the ability to upon the window & get that airflow coming through has turned out to be a great addition to the boat & with more diligence no repeats of the Fords Terror experience.
