Good show Frogman!
You are the third owner. I bought that boat from C-Dory in January, 1996. It was the factory demo boat. Had 55 hours on the 70hp Johnson 2 stroke. Lived in Az. then, many trips to Lake Powell. Moved to Va.,used it on the Bay. Sold it to Bill in 2001. Two years later, bought a new 22' C-Dory! Go figure huh.
you got a good boat. Enjoy. |

Thanks for that info Bucky, its always good to know the boats history. Anything else you might remember good or bad would be appreciated. You and Bill took very good care of her and I could tell Bill had a hard time parting with it.
What was the boats first name? She is currently located at my brothers house in Maryland right now, going to ship to the westcoast soon. This is my first C-dory, and first fiberglass boat. I like the utilitarian look and really enjoy learning on this website, not to mention all the good people and help I've received.

I named the boat, Pleiades, but did not paint the name on the boat..
Pleiades is the tiny dipper like open star cluster that rises before Orion in the winter night sky.
I had no problems with the boat at all. I sold it to buy another kind of boat, that did not work out, and went back to C-Dory 2 years later. I did trade the 70 hp Johnson two stroke that the builder installed on the boat new, for a Johnson 70 four stroke fuel injected outboard, and was amazed at the dramatic increase in range. There was no noticeable difference in speed. Unless Bill replaced the outboard at some time, he put very little time on it.
Many folks think 70 hp is not enough power, and if you pile a bunch of weight into the boat, and carry a big crew it probable isn't. I was happy enough with the 70 hp four stroke I installed another one on the next 22' C-Dory I bought two years later. That one, a, 02, had no bottom paint, I kept it waxed, and it could run 30 mph on the gps. I cruised @ 12 to 20 mph.
worked good at Lake Powell, our favorite cruising ground.
Enjoy your new C-Dory, they are truly remarkably useful boats. be carful on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, it can gobble you up.
Only thing I would do is replace the water pump on the outboard, it could be very old. Bucky. |

The water pump has been replaced fairly recently -- within the past five years I think. Would have to check my maintenance -- which is in Lexington -- I am currently in Havre de Grace. Frogman -- I can send the file to you, if you want it. Haven't tossed it yet. |
