Saw Miss Mirth heading north on I-5 east of Edmonds at 7:20 p.m. yesterday, the 24th. She sure looked good. Hopefully her skipper was rolling her toward a launch site to begin many days aboard.

I didn't see Beachnut, the boat, but I did see her owner at the R2AK Goodies stand in the harbor in Victoria on Sunday, Race start day. We did get to chat a bit and at some point will get to do some buddy boating in the area.

Our boat on the news - at minute 1:15 over the shoulder of the officer.

Sighted the C-Dory "Sumi" on a trailer (no tow vehicle attached) parked in downtown Campbell River, B.C. on July 8.
Looking back, the vehicle I was driving could easily have towed her. Perhaps she was waiting for some kind soul to come along and put her on the ocean, where she belonged.
I'll be back in C. River next week. If she's still there.... |

Holy cow, thanks for your vigilance, Roger. I trust you called the police on that guy. I really can't have people living in Bambina till I find her a happy new home. |

Well, again not a C-Dory but a couple of C-BRATS. I met George Hone of Kerri On, and Blake E of Sea Fury and clam chowder fame at Port Harvey the other night. Both have moved from C-Dorys on to bigger more complicated vessels, with more space and longer water lines, but both are great guys and we had a good visit and run up Johnstone in pretty flat calm conditions together.

Sighted the 22-foot C-Dory "Retriever" on the hard at Costco in Courtenay, B.C.
Two hours later, still on its trailer, it was at the Campbell River ferry terminal, about to board for Quadra Island. |

Spent a rainy weekend in Port Browning on Pender Island. Was great. Nothing like hearing the rain all tucked in. Last one before pulling out for the winter and found the new week or so new owners of Brevity at the other end of the empty docks. Ooops forget the names but a very great couple. They were just cruising the Gulf Islands before trailering her back to California and points beyond so am sure many will cross their paths and enjoy their company

Today while leaving Anchorage we spotted a real pretty and shiny catamaran (BLACK CAT) along the Old Seward Hyw. south of town. It was mostly black in color and beautiful.
Also......my boat (HIGH TIDE) is in Anchorage at a boat repair shop trying to find the source of the water coming out of a screw hole in the transom. State Farm Ins is sending a marine surveyor to Anchorage from Sitka to inspect it.
The shop owner thinks it is the drain plug and housing not being properly installed. It may have been whacked and knocked loose running out in the water where there are many logs floating around.
We will see. _________________ On the HIGH TIDE-II, wife Carolyn and I.....Another summer fishing on the HIGH TIDE II in the Cook Inlet at Cape Ninilchik, Alaska.

Spotted of Rat Island near the Indian Island channel, a nice shiny Burgundy 22 Cruiser with a happy as a clam pair of owners, Tim and Shelly on their nearly new and still un-labeled "C-Monkey". This was their third weekend out, out of 3 weekends and they have only had the boat a couple of months. Looking forward to seeing them on the water some more around the Port Townsend cut and beyond.
