Does anyone in our group have a 115 yamaha four stroke on their 22 cruiser? I'm toying with idea of changing out my 90 honda. My idea is to not run the motor as hard to get the same benifits, and have the extra power and speed when needed. The weight difference is 40 lbs

Hey Fireguy, I only see two listed. Red Fox and Knot Yacht.

Go to the "Our C-Dorys" button at the top of the page, sort by "Power" and select "Descending" so that the Yammies are at the top.

Scroll down and you 'll see the two I'm talking about. Not sure what boat Knot Yacht has, it's not listed.

Charlie

Motor propped right works get. I run a solas 4 blade 15 pitch. I would suggest that prop to anyboby with a honda 90. Just want better performance from my boat. I Wish Honda made a 100 hp. I have one person on my boat of four with gear and stuff the 90 works to hard when loaded down.

I am getting a 115 on my new CD. I believe, that the suzuki 115 is the same weight as their 90. Not positive but I think so, and I love the Suzuki I have now. Also might want to make sure it won't affect your insurance. I've read others warning about that insurance deal, on some of the older boats that were only rated to 100 HP.

If its only a rating change, and nothing's structurally different, maybe you could get the new 115 hp sticker from the factory and stick it on your boat. Mark Toland told me about 5 years ago that the former company would do that for me when the rating had been increased from 90 to 100 hp. Joe.

I was going to put my yamaha f115 on the c-dory22 but I thought about for resale of my deck boat also ins reasons i just bit the bullet and ordered a 90 suzuki lots of power from a 14by18pitch s/s prop i get 34.4 or so with a not broken in eng at 6000rpm the suzuki 90 same wt. as the115 suzuki . I would reprop the honda with a 17 or 18 pitch s/s prop and call it good

Hey Fireguy, I am sure that Red Fox will thank you immensely for lobbing that niiiiiiicccccceeeee sllloooooooooooww hanging curve ball for him to hit. Wink I can hardly wait for his answer.

My first thought was with Jennykatz, the displacement of the Suzuki is bigger than all of the other 90 hp motors. That might give you the torque that you need without going outside of the allowable ratings. Thumbs Up

As an aside are you a firefighter or is there another reason for the fireguy monicker?

Twenty one years as a Camas FF Local 2444. I like the comments so far, but I'm not a suck-zuki fan. I guess I'm the only guy to ever have one of their new four strokes blow up on them. That's why I own a Honda now. Great when buy them, worst customer service I have ever had when it broke. I believe the transom is tough enough just wonderd if any had done it.

Fireguy, I am in CDF L2881. I have heard of one person on this site who had problems w/ Suzuki. I do not remember who it was or what the final outcome was. As mentioned above, Cutty Sark is getting a 115. I do not know what they have changed to allow the power upgrade. It might be worth a phone call.
