Does anyone else feel that the backrest on the 25 aft dinette seat is too low?? Why isnt the wood part a few inches higher? The forward dinette back part is perfect.
Im gonna add a 6 inch piece to the rear hanging closet to make it higher. _________________ <><><> Jason <><><>

Actually the ergonomics in all of the dinettes in the C Dory are far from ideal. My son's cruise ship 25 has both the seat back and seat itself angled, more like a chair at home, and is more comfortable.
We have used pillows to give more comfortable seating at the dinettes. Not sure what would be gained with a piece making it higher--but give it a try. Each of us has a different "ideal" sitting position--and that is why cars have adjustable seats, and each of us has a "favorite chair"... _________________ Bob Austin

I also found the aft seatback too low, so I cut off the old one at the top of the seatbase and added a taller one and an angled cushion.
Part of that same project was to add a cleat to the forward bulkhead for the forward seatback, and fill in the forward footwell area with a platform and cushion.
A smaller dinette table (shelf?) holds the essentials.
While I was at it, I raised the height of the forward footrests to match the height of the dinette footrest. I'm not sure why this wasn't done at the factory, but my legs are the same length which ever way I'm facing, and it gives additional storage.
We normally cruise in "lounge mode" and this gives us almost 8' to hang out in.
I gave up on using Decraguard, and used high grade plywood, painted, for the non-wear areas, and Formica for the counter tops.
As an aside, somewhere around 2005, the factory was making the whole seating area about 4" lower. I asked the infamous Jeff Messmer, who was in charge of C-Dory marketing at the time about the change, and he was unaware. It may have been just the few boats between mine and the molded interior models that a different shop person made the change.

Awesome! Thanks Minnow. I can't wait to fix the seatback. Btw, why is Jeff Messmer infamous!? Lol. Ive watched all his YouTube videos on the Ranger Tugs. I didn't know he used to be affiliated with C Dory. |
