We are going to be running Coastal Explorer on a 2012 Toshiba Windows 7 laptop for navigation on the Great Loop. Today my USB 3 thin monitor arrived! It is a USB 3 device but will be running at USB 2 speed, since Windows 7 does not support USB 3, but I think this will be OK. The monitor does not require any separate power supply beyond the USB connection. I will connect it all up tomorrow, and report on my impressions! _________________

My 3 year old Dell laptop with Win 7 Pro has USB 3 ports. Sometimes they are called SuperSpeed USB. There is a little "S" symbol next to the USB icon near the port. |

With the correct drivers and updates Windows 7 does support USB 3. Of course that obsolete laptop has to have the blue USB Ports. _________________ Jody Kidd
