UPDATE . . .
The Frapper Map was short lived. But it was so cool, you say! Why nerd, why? Don't take our Frapper away!
We've got something better. Simply go to your profile, and enter your zip code. Then - check out our own, dynamically generated C-Brat map at this link.
Why is it cooler than Frapper?
- All of the information is generated out of our existing user database. No need for duplicating everything at the Frapper site, and no worries about it ever disappearing since Frapper is beyond our control.
- It's color coded by boat model. Way, way cool, if I may be permitted to dispense with my usual modesty for a moment...
- The popups for each push-pin include links to the user's photo album (if one exists) and their profile.
There is one drawback...apologies to our Canadian friends. The Google map interface that builds the map requires lat/lon coords to determine where to stick the push-pin. Trouble is...I can find no publically available list of Canadian postal codes with their related lat/lon central coordinates. US data was readily available via Census data. If anyone can find such data, by all means - let me know so our Canadian Brats won't be left out in the cold...so to speak.
Original Post Below
C-Brat Frapper Map? Say that 10 times fast!
The short version - go to the C-Brat Frapper site at this link (edit: link removed), and enter your C-Brat username and zip code. If you've got a favorite boat photo, upload that too.
I've seen a number of communities using Frapper - the resulting map is pretty cool as more and more members enter their location. It gives a great visual representation of where in the country folks with common interests are.
The long version - Google Maps has to be one of the coolest online apps to come out in a while. It's real power lies not only in the features it offers, but the way Google makes it available. They've opened access to the mapping application to web developers, and many impressive web applications are popping up that take advantage of this - like Frapper.
I'm just starting to get familiar with Google Maps from a programming perspective, and hope to make interactive maps available here based on our registration and C-Brat gathering data some day.
Tons of possibilities down the road, but for now...do your part, and help map the C-Brat Frapper! _________________ Will, C-Brat Nerd

Well I screwed that up. I wanted to change my shortcut but ended up adding a pic rather than editing a pic.
Is there a way to fix that? _________________

Okay, I give.... what the heck is a "shoutout"? and why do I have to give a shoutout to register there?
I don't understand "nerdspeak", so explanations need to be made in simple english.
I think I caught a "frapper" once while out bottomfishing. _________________ Larry S

I thought a Frapper was a guy whose songs focused on swearing and shooting at the police!
I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm with it. I listen to Frap music...
Mostly at intersections. |

It's just some text that will appear in a bubble when you mouse over your position on the map. It can say anything you wish it to.
I thought a frapper was someone who makes the frappacino at Starbucks... _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

If the guy who makes the Thick Milk Shake is a Frapper, does that mean that those of us who drink them are Frappee's? |

A shoutout is not nerd speak but more urban street speak. When you give a "shoutout" your just saying something to someone. So one might say that you want to give a shoutout to your homies. Mainly your saying hello. All clear now? |

Whoa, folks - hold down the praise for something more worthy. All I did was stumble across a cool site, make a few mouse clicks, and announce it here. Grand total of invested time - about 3 minutes.
Heck - even Brock could have done it...

There's very little control in the Frapper App - basically, whoever started the Frapper in question can delete entries, and that's about it. I blasted your entries - just add 'em back.
RE pics - if you didn't add one originally, or you want to change the one shown, just add another shoutout and upload another pic. If I understand the docs, it should just overwrite the first one. |

Dunno, but if you take your wireless laptop into the head on a CD25, dressed in a nice blazer, you could be...
A dapper C-Brat Frapper on the crapper with a lap mapper. |
