I would like to know the longest trip anyone has made in a an Angler 16. I exclude the Cruisers only because they have a berth and you can can sleep on them comfortably. In particular how was your 16 rigged, how much fuel did you carry and distance between overnights.
Cheers

Hi Chris. Look at Bambina and Seeweed albums for ideas. Both 16 anglers. Bambina made a cruise from Seattle to Nanaimo over a couple weeks and Seeweed is out for months. They may chime in here. Have fun on your boat. George |

The last trip on my 16 Angler, I took her out 75 miles from port over a three day weekend with the wife. Logged close to 200 miles (statute) on that trip running a 70hp 2-stroke Johnson fed from a pair of 24-gallon saddle tanks. I strung hammocks from the helm to the transom and rigged a tarp over the cockpit to make an enclosure for sleeping. _________________ -Rod

c-jeep:
Pat and Patty Anderson of Daydream have a 16 Angler (Crabby Lou) that they have modified to sleep in,
so having an Angler as opposed to a Cruiser, is not necessarily an impediment to cruising,
although you're seeing it already with the above posts.
See Crabby Lou HERE.
(Hope my memory serves mi right in that it is an Angler, not a Cruiser.)

Than you for the input. I would be interested to see how you rigged the hammocks?

Though I have a 16 Cruiser, we have never slept on the boat. We have made 2 trips to St. Augustine from Daytona Beach, about 56 miles. I usually stop about halfway and switch tanks. Personally I am interested in longer trips but I think my "cruising limit" is about 30 miles at a time. I wish there were more B&B's or nice hotels closer together on the ICW. _________________ Stan Major (386) 785-4396

Brock on Bambina made a trip from Anacortes to Desolation Sound on his 16 Angler. He also spent two weeks with the C-Brats in Desolation back in 05. |

Here's the one picture of the hammocks I could find. I'm not sure how they were attached at either end.

The tanks were Moeller saddle tanks. And, no... I didn't replace the foam. |

Yes, Crabby Lou is a 16 Angler. The only thing I would say is we learned why taking out the post seats and replacing them with the Cabela quads was a bad idea when we returned from Sucia a few years ago under a gale warning! I am probably going to put a post seat back in at the helm!
But overall, the setup worked quite well for cruising, even though Patty doesn't enjoy it as much as I do. Or perhaps she doesn't enjoy cruising in it at all, since we have the 25 for cruising, and Crabby Lou was supposed to be, well, a crabbing boat. The camperback, a Little Buddy propane heater, a little portapotti, an airbed, sleeping bags, a jug of water, a little butane stove, and a bin with dishes, coffee pot, pots and pans, and we really have everything we need. We carried two twelve gallon fuel tanks, so at about 5 miles per gallon on the old Johnson 40, we could go just about 80 miles between fuel stops following the rule of thirds.

i zoomed in and located the cleats. Mounted on the thick Fibre glassed rim of the cuddy door. This is definitely one of my future projects. Thanks for the picture.

Are they cam cleats, clam cleats, jam cleats, or
.?

Like the one on the right?
