A few weeks ago I asked a question about tilt steering and the lack of room between the wheel and the seat. My legs barely fit and I am not a big guy. I got a few suggestions that would help. 1. smaller wheel 2. install a 20 degree bezel to tilt the wheel. Contacted seastar than they don't offer a 20 degree bezel for rear mounted steering (only for front mounted)
3. install tilt steering (too expensive for me at this time)

I have a 2013 model teleflex seastar rear mounted hydro steering. The wheel is nearly flush with the helm. I wish I had a picture to show. It seems that when I look at other 22 pictures mostly earlier year models most have a front mounted steering and there seems to be plenty of leg room between the seat and wheel. Is this correct?

My question is" does anyone have a 2013 that is experiencing my same problems and if so any solutions? I plan to install a smaller wheel but i'm not sure this will help completely.
Another question is did c-dory change the design of the helm/sink/cooking area? The seat is installed as far back as possible. Also the throttle control is difficult to put in reverse because it is installed as far forward but is still difficult to use because it is not forward enough for significant leverage. (not overly difficult just different than other boats I have owned.

Thanks in advance

It sounds as if the cheapest and easiest way to resolve the clearance problem is to put in the smaller wheel. Also a "brody' or "Suicide" knob, for rapid turns. With hydraulic steering, it should be easy enough even with a smaller wheel.

I am 6'2" and about 180 lbs, and no issue with clearance between the wheel and seat. It sounds as if it was changed. The older inside was wood, so that it could be easily modified. It is still possible to lower the seat with fiberglass, but a bit more difficult and will take a lot of modification.

The controls do seem awkward in all of the boats, because of clearance--but this is something which we seem to adjust do.

I put the angled bezel on my CD22. I do not have hydraulic steering though.
I put it on for the height as I have raised the helm seat 2 inches for better visibility.
