I'll do the ice cream, but I can't guarantee it will be the same w/o Ron doing the buying...but I'll try. I'm beginning to sweat having a crew for the trip, down to 1, and that 1 is quite busy. Have to play it by ear. _________________ Steve & Carmen

Steve,
It's hard to believe you are short of crew for the off shore cruise. Don't give it up. Good luck.

I was about to volunteer for the ice cream, but Steve beat me to it, so I'm at a loss as to what to contribute, so Pounder, how about letting me provide some tri-tip? _________________ Mike - Sealife |

Wow! What a fantastic turnout for food volunteers. Below we summarize the pot luck contributions for Monday night:
A. Tri Tip BBQ Jim and Kath (Pounder) and Mike (Sealife)
B. Spaghetti and Meat Sauce Ron (Islander)
C. Garlic Bread and Aluminum Foil Heinz (Lighthouse Express)
D. Cheese, Chips, and Dip Joel and Susan (SEA3PO)
E. Pasta Salad Tony and Diane (C-View)
F. Green Salad and Dressing Robbin and John (Dinner Belle II)
G. Corn and Aluminum Foil Kelly (LabraDory)
H. Dessert Steve (Dora Jean) ice cream and Ron (Islander) cookies.
Mike Sealife, that is super if you can provide some more Tri Tip. How about bringing a 3 to 4 pound chunk of Tri Tip to add to our lot. That would be great!
David and Donald (Blue Eagle) are in route via the California Coast Offshore Adventure. When you two finally check in please find something to contribute, maybe more snacks or precooked baked potatoes with sour cream.
Pedro (C-Casa) when you check in perhaps you could bring paper plates, plastic utensils, and cups and some bottled water.
Also, everyone is free to bring their own drinks of choice and most share their drinks with others. More later.
Sincerely,
Jim and Kath _________________ Jim on M/V Pounder

I will be happy to bring plates, forks, knives, napkins , cups and drinking water. My wife Eileen is still considering if she will come along, otherwise my son will be persuaded.
I might even bring a little bit of wine for those who would like to partake. |

Blue Eagle has reached MDR, has a temporary slip near the launch ramp, and we are back at home, catching up on things.
Last year, the pita and humas proved popular, and I would like to bring more.
Loaded pre-cooked baked potatoes sound great, but hot would be better then cold. Does anyone have a microwave or oven on board?
Since we won't be bringing food from home, we can finalize our shopping list on Sunday afternoon, bringing whatever is still needed.

Dear All:
Pedro, thanks for your contribution. David and Donald, bring what ever you see fit. That would be fine.
We are pleased to add a 12th boat to this Adventure! That will be Bobby and Chris on Cora-J. We met Bobby and Chris about 15 years ago at a Delta Hee Man event in the days of the C-Dogs! They also know John and Robbin.
For food quantities please plan on about 25 people total for the 12 vessels!
Sincerely,
Jim |

Wow, 12 boats. After all these years it's great to see the enthusiasm has not diminished for this event. Thanks to Pounder (Jim & Cathy) for keeping it going so well. Seems like I never left. Jim, will anyone be arranging for our moorings on the string prior to our arrival? |

Thanks Mike for the kind words. Yes 12 vessels is a fantastic turnout, especially after 12 years! This enthusiasm really demonstrates the love all of us have for the West End of Catalina Island.
Regarding the Sring Line reservations. What we have found in recent years is because we go over on Monday morning, there is no real problem just getting our spots when we arrive at Two Harbors.
We like to try to put most everyone on the inside of the string line on the far East side (ie, away from the pier and traffic) overlooking the end of the beach. Those that want deeper water, or want to look out to the Pacific, can go on the outside (otherside) on the far East side. Ron on his Lobster Boat will be on a mooring can nearby.
In any case, getting our String Line spots on arrival has worked well. We meet the harbor master in the outside cove on our arrival via VHF Channel 9, get our assignments, and later go pay for it up at the dock.
Sincerely,
Jim |

Hi Jim, my wife just informed me she will go if We trailer to MDR...so I won't be going with you guys from Channel Islands, instead I'll meet you guys Sunday afternoon at MDR.
Mike, 2 questions from you:
Looking at the launching and parking rules at MDR, it appears we need to call a specific phone number Mon-Fri to make arrangements for parking beyond 48 hours. Should I call that number, or are there other suggestions?.
When we moor on "the string". Do we tie fore and aft or just by the bow?
Looking forward to meeting all of you |

Pedro and Eileen. Great to have you both on board.
Once you get to MDR, you can call that telephone number on Monday and let them know what day you will be back from Catalina to get your boat and trailer. Not a big deal.
Yes, the String line works by attaching both your bow to the string line end and your stern to another rear anchor end. We can show you how it works over there. Hard to explain for the first time, but easy after you see it in action!

Pedro and Eileen. Pay at the gate entrance for the number of days (24hr periods) you will be staying, make sure to display on left front windshield. Also call the number, but I have forgotten to call many times, seems no problem if you have the proper tickets displayed -- but best to call.
David and Donald. The 'mostly' precooked potatoes are to be individually wrapped and inserted in the coals while the meat is cooking, gives them that BBQ finish and nice and hot.
I'm still not 100% confirmed with a crew, but not giving up... |

Last year we went over on Sunday, and had no problem getting a place on the Sting line. It usually empties out by noon time for the weekend. _________________ Bob Austin
