The T/T motor is attached with 3 phillip-head screws. It is not possible to access 2 of these screws and apply enough down force and twisting motion to turn the screws. In fact, I had to grip the one screw that is accessable with vice grips to get it loosened. This is on a 1999 80hp Yamaha. I want to remove the motor to thoroughly sand, prime, and paint this old motor. I have done a good job removing all the rust on most of the motor, but about 1/4 of it is so close to the transom that it is almost impossible to refinish. It looks like I could lock the motor in the raised position, adjust the hydraulic piston to remove all load, then remove the pin that attaches the piston to the engine. Is this pin pressed in or should I be able to tap it out with a rod and hammer? I could then swing the hydraulic pump down and get to all 3 screws. |

I solved my own question. I used the safety latch to hold the motor in the raised position, removed the lower rod which supports the hydraulic system, then rotated everything up to access all sides of the T/t motor. |

Sweet! Good going
I was thinking if no-one responded I was going to come back and mention that few C-Dorys have the Yamaha F80. It seems they mainly were sold by Three Rivers Marine in Florida back in the late 90's and up to the mid-2000's.
C-Brat "C-Weed" has a 22 with an F80 and has posted photos in the C-Weed album about a few F80 related things.
Also C-Brat "Dora~Jean" has a 25 with twin F80's and likewise has posted some really useful service stuff in his album. I used his photo tutorial to plan my Permatrim install
