|
|
When I pulled the boat at Lake Powell, I noticed that the power tilt seemed to be a bit noisy going up, and it made a screech when coming down. My assumption is that I am low on fluid, but thought I would see if any of you have experienced anything similar.
Scanning the PDF manual didn't help, although I could have missed it. Any thoughts? Best way to check? _________________ "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln |

Mine too. Honda 135. Loud screech going down. No unusual noise coming up. Seems to be worst when it's hot outside. |

Good find! Anyone have info on accessing the filler for the tilt pump on a Honda? Mine's a 2004 135. |

If you're going to work on those engines yourself, might I suggest a Honda Shop Manual. They're cheap compared to a mechanics charge, and even if you need to go to a mechanic, they're a source of information when talking to the mechanic.
Here's Honda's Shop Manual
As an example, the 150 Shop Manual shows how to fill the hydraulic tank, where the filter is (buried inside the unit,) and how to bleed the unit after air enters. I'm sure that a 90 is different, but a 90 shop manual would have all the info on the power tilt, and even more than you would want to know.
There are knowledgeable people on the Brat site, but it's certainly helpful to have pictures and the written word in front of you.

I will get a manual at the first opportunity. I was hoping I could go after this job tomorrow. If by chance anyone can shoot an image of the power tilt section for an '04 135HP that would be great. I will be getting a manual, though. Thanks. |

Mine did that same screech sound when going down,so I told my dealer as it was due for the 100 hr checkup. He said It was common and would just grease the post on the ends where it tilts the motor up. no problem since. |

Thanks for the tips on grease. I haven't been able to spot any fittings in that area. Having the shop manual looks like a brilliant idea. I guess at my age I should have figured that out years ago. Better late than never.
Thanks y'all. |
