|
|
All,
Tom Elliott (Susan E) and I have agreed to take on the organization of the SBS C-Brat Gathering for 2013. Here's the plan:
1) We will be staying at the Silver Cloud Hotel immediately adjacent to the boat show. The rates are:
$129 king room
$139 double queen room
plus taxes
Contact info:
1046 1st Avenue South Seattle, WA 98134
Reservations: 800.497.1261
206.204.9800
Fax: 206.381.0751
Email: management@stadium.silvercloud.com
You should BOOK NOW. They have more than 40 rooms available right now and the rate is the Seattle Boat Show rate. You can cancel within 24 hours at no cost. When you make your reservations, you give them a credit card to hold the room. No charges occur until the day before check-in. A few of us will book an extra room so we'll have some for those who are slow to move on this. But again you should book NOW. I realize the rates are a good bit more than the Larkspur, but the consensus of those I talked to was that the convenience of being able to walk back and forth to the boat show was worth the extra $'s. In fact when I mentioned that we would stay downtown, my wife immediately said she'd go and she's never shown any interest in going to Renton to hang out while I yammer on about boats and fishing. So to me, this is a big plus.
2) Pat Anderson has graciously agreed to allow us to host the potluck at the brewery on Sat. Jan 26th. I'm hoping Barry will help coordinate the bus arrangements like he did last year but I have not yet asked him about this (Barry I apologize for putting you on the spot - If you just put me in contact with who you used last year, I can deal with it if you wish).
3) On the Friday night, our "restaurant dinner" will likely be in a banquet room at the hotel. This will require that we use their catering so I'm in contact with the manager to get pricing. I anticipate it will cost around $25-$35 per head depending on how many will want to participate and on what we order.
So that's it for now. It should be a fun time. I already booked my room and suggest you do the same. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

Thanks Bill for moving this thread over. Barry has agreed to help with the arrangements on the bus and a number of us can drive if need be. We'll need a signup sheet for the gathering and it would be best if we can have two - one for those interested in the banquet on Friday night and one for those interested in the potluck on Saturday night.
Tom and I will be working with a number of vendors to see if we can scare up support for the bus and/or the banquet and to see if we can scare up any interesting door prizes. If anyone has ideas about particular vendors we should contact, send either Tom or I a PM. |

Just booked the two nights. A better number to call for reservations is direct to Marita who is handling this. Her direct number is 206 204 2072. Also FYI parking is $22.00 a day. Marita's email is maritas@silvercloud.com. _________________ David and Kate

I just called the hotel and , apparently they do not have a shuttle to the airport, but the Light Link Rail goes from the airport to the stadium, within easy walking to the hotel. _________________ MartyP

train station
As you can see the train station is just a few blocks from the hotel and the convention center/ field where the boat show is held. We are thinking of leaving the car in everett and taking the train down. If I was coming up from portland I might think of doing the same thing. Save on the gas and the driving. No parking fee that way.
heres the hotel.

Yes. I talked to Marita this AM also and she recommended we contact her directly.

Yes, the Light Link Rail has a stop 0.3 miles to the east of the hotel. It's a 5-10 min walk from the stop to the hotel depending on how fast you walk. The current fare from the airport to the stadium is $2.75/person. The train runs every 10-15 mins from 5AM until midnight M-Sat and 6AM until 11PM on Sunday. In rush hour traffic, it's a little faster than a cab for a lot less money. In light traffic, it's a little slower for a lot less money. Either way, I think the train is a great deal. |

Ditto that! And I STILL owe you a bottle of wine. Maybe this will be the year when I can make the exchange in person. |

We'll probably just book Friday night at the hotel, and then stay at home after the Saturday night soiree.
I think a large part of what was good about the hotel in Renton was the breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, not because they were great breakfasts but because it gave us two more opportunities for socializing. I will miss that part a lot. _________________

Pat,
The hotel has it's own restaurant (Jimmy's on First) with good breakfasts. There's also a number of restaurants on the N side of the stadium that serve breakfast and a bunch within 4 blocks of that in the international district. We could easily set up C-Brat breakfasts at any of those places. Dimsum in the international district on a Sat or Sunday morning can be a VERY good brunch at a reasonable price. |

As an aside, the bus ride from the eastside (Bellevue, Sammamish, Issaquah, Redmond) is also a snap, and cheap. I recently had to go to the courthouse (one stop from the hotel) for jury duty. I was very impressed with the service and will definately use it over driving. Also, there were three or four free park-and-rides between my house and Seattle.
