The first annual CBGT in LaConner is in the books and was a rousing success IMHO. Tom & Susan caught the torch from Joe & Ruth and ran with it! The Port of Skagit was totally on board and could not have been more accomodating and friendly.

The Pot-Luck dinner was outstanding and the wonderful prizes equalled the number of boats in attendance. Don't you love it when everyboby wins? Thumbs Up

Most C-Dory models were represented from Lola (CD-12) to a couple of TCs and the host ship, the 27 Super Dory! Disgust It was great to have lots of first timers attend. We hope you all felt welcomed.

Thanks and Kudos to Tom & Susan for taking this on despite a few bumps in the road.

Ditto! A fun gathering, lots of new faces, good food and conversation as usual. Tom and especially Susan (recovering from the "Fiji flux") deserve a big thank you. Next year.

Thanks Tom and Susan for putting together a great CBGT. We had a wonderful time. Food was delicious. Enjoyed seeing our long time friends and meeting some new C-Brats, too. We wish we'd had more time this weekend to spend visiting with everyone. Very impressed with the support that the C-Brats received from the folks who run the marina.

This was our 3rd CBGT and a great one at that. Loved meeting and getting to know more of you.

Tom & Susan, thanks so much for making this weekend so fun & festive. You're gracious hosts.

We'd vote for putting La Conner on the calendar again. Wonderful location, quaint town and services, and Port of Skagit puts a warm welcome out for C-Brats, that's for sure.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Sorry I didn't make it up there for breakfast. My relay race team finished around 5PM yesterday and after eating etc., a 3 ferry wait at the Clinton ferry terminal and dropping off other runners on my team at a park and ride where we left their car, I didn't get home until 9PM last night. By the time I got done emptying out my truck it was 10PM and at that point, I had been awake since 4AM on Friday. I awoke at 6AM today with plans to go to La Conner for breakfast but more sleep seemed like a better idea at the time. Hopefully, Tom and Susan will make this an annual event and I'll get there next year (as long as it isn't the 3rd weekend in July).

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up for LaConner, for Tom and Susan, for the Port (and Kevin,) and for everybody that showed up. Sat night boat count was 18 on the dock and one left earlier. Sure hated to miss the breakfast, but I had to be sure and be home for w%#@k so made that early tide change at Deception Pass. As I went through the pass (or just after) I turned on the FM radio to see if I could get my favorite radio station. Yep,. -- playing a song about standing firm on a solid rock. How fitting.

Had a great trip, both ways, (NOAA pay attention, when the baromter is flat, and the wind reports for the whole of Juan de Fuca are under double digits, maybe it's just a bit soon to call it a small craft warning.) So I decided to go take a look see, and if it was lousy, I was only 14 miles out of the way and I got to go under that bridge again. It was nearly flat, nothing over a foot, and wind less than 5, so off I went. it was so nice that wne I got into john Wayne marine at 0930, I called some friends and thay came out an we went for a 3 hour boat ride Smile

Great fun, good friends, fun times, nice to meet new folks (literally, Jeanie from Sparkle Plenty, found her heading up the canal and we had a nice run back to the group.) That is a really nice 16 too, BTW.

So home safe and sound, boat cleaned, fueled, dried and put away. Hope the group anchored of SE Lopez are doing OK. Might get breezy tonight. You all be safe, headed home or to Comox or where ever. See you next time around the bend.

Harvey

We would like to thank Tom and Susan for putting this event together and while we did not bring the boat and only stayed a few hours at our first event we really appreciated the group support and hope to attend many other events in the future.

This is my first post ever, so I hope I have found the correct area to comment on the LaConner Rendezvous. This was my first rendezvous with Sparkle Plenty, and it couldn't have been better. You C-Dory owners are a great group of people! Tom and Susan did a fantastic job organizing the affair, so a big thank you to them. A special thank you to Harvey on Sleepy-C, who saw me idling up the channel and showed me to our dock. That was appreciated! I look forward to seeing you all again, another time.

Thanks Tom and Susan for putting together such a great CBGT! Also thanks for stopping by on the dinghy in the rain on Sunday night at Watmough Bay. The rain and wind - and being stuck inside the cabin w/ me - was putting Tanya in a bad mood and your visit really helped.

As others have stated, the La Conner marina staff and other local folks were fantastic. Even had a very nice visit from a lady from their Chamber of Commerce. Great operation and very welcoming people for sure. If only the weather had cooperated a bit more. Definitely a great choice of venue and we hope to be back again in the future.

Great seeing everybody and even hearing from a few we did not get to see (thanks for the cruising tips George!).

We are in Langley today after spending yesterday in Coupeville. Wonderful to see the sun finally shining just in time for us to head home tomorrow.

Hope the folks heading up to Comox have a safe trip, calm seas, and get some good weather.

Take care,
Dan and Tanya on C-Renity

Jeanie,

You would have found it anyway, but it was fun to get to run up the channel with you. And though I didn't get to hear the story of the boat name, it is pretty descriptive and it fits. Glad you came, and hope you get time to get out and enjoy the boat more often.

My apologies to all those seeking visual stimulation. For reasons better known (maybe) to the gurus of cyberspace a number of the pictures I posted for La Conner made an encore appearance a few days later.
I have done my best to delete the doubles but if that does not work then please join me in the line of boats on Lake Washington just offshore of a certain well guarded property where we are all throwing our Windows based machines into the water. Twisted Evil

Well Sorry for the long delay before posting but as soon as the La conner gig was down Susan and I were off for a week on the water and I have been catching up at work since.

Well was that a great time or what. The Port of La conner did a great job and was johnny on the spot with the tents in cased it rained. Well it did not rain on saturday and we all had a great time. The tour of the factory was a blast and very interesting to me and I hope others. Not sure what to do next year instead.

All the people in La conner that donated gifts for the give away were very helpfull and freindly. They all wanted to help out, I hope you all visited there stories and found things you wanted. La conner is a great place in the way that the stores do not have Junk. Really, we go to a lot of places both on and off the boat and every store will have the same junk as wal-mart ( nothing wrong with wall world ), I want interesting local usable items and la conner has them.

We are planning to do it again next year and hopefully all of you will too. On a side note: severa people were worried about the low water on the south entrance to the canal. No c-dorys were grounded in the making of this weekend, but Susan and I got to pull a sail boat off the canal that had grounded. We towed him off and then helped him anchor in deeper water. He gaves us a bottle of wine for our efforts, I dont drink wine but it does get Susan all lovey dovey so I still win. Seem that he was coming into the channel at MAX LOW TIDE. Just him and his two young kids?????? well I hope he learned to read a tide table.

Anyway It was a great time for all. thank you all for coming.

p.s. I found the star covered glasses that someone asked me about but i forgot who asked.

This was our first C-Dory get-together. The time went by entirely too fast as there were a lot of new faces and new boats and new stories. We are glad we came and look forward to joining another activity in the future.

We slipped out early Sunday to catch the tide toward Friday Harbor and to try for some crabs in Lopez Sound for dinner (great crabbing!). We saw Tom and Susan in Friday Harbor. We appreciate all they did to make the La Conner meeting a success.

We will trail Vagabundo to Yellowstone Lake this weekend. There is smoke in the air some days from forest firs.

In October we will trail to Florida for the winter returning to Bozeman in the spring. We have hauled sailboats to Florida for many years and are looking forward to seeing how Florida looks from Vagabundo.
