THe naming of the 27 is coming down to one of us just giving in. I like the idea of "big susan" because the boat is bigger and susan thinks its cute but I just get a bad feeling when I say it and others just give me a look like " glad hes not my husband"

Then there is the Susan e square, which I have name tags for. and we both like it but we dont love it.

susan does not like susan e 2 and neither do I really.

I like " susan E" and there is no current susan e so that will work but some say "well that was your last boat"

So for now or until we come up with a really neat name we both like its just the "27" . you cant rush these things.

I like SUSAN'S 27.

With the apostrophe in that position, it means Susan IS 27.

SUSANS' 27 would mean it's HER boat... Wink

We must have taken a different grammar class. The latter rule only applies if we're talking about plural Susans and to my knowledge (and I'm sure to Susan's knowledge), Tom only has one Susan. Wink

In my grammar class, "Susan's 27" could be the possessive or a contraction (the 27 belongs to Susan or Susan is 27).

I've known folks to name an entire series of boats the same name, so Susan E doesn't have to have a "2" or a "II". No way in Hell would I name anything BIG ____ and tell people I named it after my wife.

Go for a while - the boat will tell you what it wants to be named. Susan E is a name that we all know here, if you decide that fits.

Best wishes,
Jim

Agreed. But Susans' 27 would imply plural Susans correct?

You guys remind me of my one armed english teacher in texes ( she would not tell us how she lost the arm so I firgures it was at the Alamo) . When ever I asked if i could go to the bath room she would say " I dont know can you?" My reply was " I can , here or in the bath room down the hull, choice is yours" Then I would just walk out.

Now back to
BOATING.

Yep. And I know this stuff 'cause I are an author... and just finished an editing project for two other authors'. Cool Mr. Green Ah, the fast-paced, high stakes world of word-usin'. Wink

And now back to our regularly scheduled thread: wish we could join y'all in LaConner - this workin' stuff gets in the way of my time off. (So, what were those apostrophes doin' in there?)

Best wishes,
Jim

Please count the three of us in for breakfast on Sunday.

Is there a potluck on the dock on Saturday evening?

Time for a update on the weekend.

1. Friday is show up and have fun. Dinner is your own affair. I do know that Washington sips and wine bar live music on Friday night. Mike the owner has donated a nice bottle of wine for our prize stash. Also the prime rib house has a band friday I think but most definitely on Saturday.

2. We will be serving scones and muffins on the dock for breakfast around 8am.

3. The tour of the tug factory will begin at 10am. Should last about 1 to 2 hours.

4. Crabbing should be best on saturday from 1 to 4 pm. this is from low slack into the first two hours of the rising tide. I will not be taking the 27 out as susan needs it around to prepare for the Pot luck on Saturday at 530 up at the covered bbq area. I can show people on maps where they can go> I know two really good areas. One north and one south. If some one has a open seat on a crabber i might be talked into going if we get back by 4pm.

5. I have a lot of good prizes to give away after the pot luck including but not limited to bottles of wine, books, wobbling drinking glasses, t-shirts, a fleece, float plane ride, and a free bottom paint.

6. Lots of places to drink or listen to music in town. I will be going down to listen to some of them.

7. Sunday is breakfast in town at 730.

After that you are all on your own. Susan and I will be headed to firday harbor sunday after noon to catch a movie that night. Then off to Canada monday morning.

See you all there.
