It's official-we just gave Cutter Marine a credit card number for our new 22' C-Dory. They had the boat in stock and rigged with the 90 Honda. We need a long tongue on the trailer because we will tow with our RoadTrek motor home and the gen set is mounted under the rear bumper and we must keep it dry. Getting the special trailer should take only a few weeks. Cutter is installing our electronics, nothing fancy, the new Garmin 192 with the blue maps for all costal areas and a fish finder with a temp gauge.
I have always liked the looks of the C-Dory and sure enjoyed and learned a lot reading your posts. We did try out a 22 with the 90 on Thursday and it worked very well. This is our 2nd downsize from a Monk 36 to a Rosborough RF-246 and now the CD-22. Pat and Fred Messerly- Red Lion, Pa. _________________ Pat & Fred Messerly |

Another one for the checklist: Bring wife since she usually catches fish.
Congrats on the new boat. I agree, don't wait for good weather you got a hard top.

Pat and Fred-
Congratulations on the the new CD-22!!!
You won't be disappointed!
After you have gotten to know the new boat, it would be very interesting to have you give us your impressions of it and how it fits your needs compared to the other boats.
They're three different boats, and they each have their own character, but how do you like the small pocket cruiser as compared to a larger one or the sailboat?
How does the boat affect your enjoyment of cruising and how much you're able to do? What else can you tell us about them and how they change your boating habits and enjoyment?
Looking forward to hearing from you! Joe. _________________ Sea Wolf, C-Brat #31

Some may wonder why we down sized to the 22 C-Dory. The Rosborough is a wonderful boat, very well made, handeled about perfect and the fuel burn with the V-6 I/O was OK. The problem for us was the weight for towing around 9000 with the trailer and fuel.
We recently purchased a small RoadTrek motor home that will tow about 7000 pounds. The C-Dory and single axel trailer should be around 4000.
Our short sea trail with the 22 was OK the major difference in calm water was haul noise. The Honda 90 was much softer sounding than the I/O. I expect a difference in ride with the dory and a much lighter boat.
Another plus the dory is really good looking-but you all know that!! |

Pat and Fred --
We are currently tied off at a slip at Cutter's Marina. Which boat in their yard is yours?? What color did you pick out? congrats to you.
We plan to do some Chesapeake cruising for a few weeks, before the Lankford Gathering. If you are at Cutters, stop over and say hi. We'll probably head out Tuesday or Wednesday. _________________ El and Bill (former live-aboards)

I have been 'cutting & pasting' all of the checklist subjects and putting them in Excel. Multiple subjects such as plug, gas, keys get moved to the start of the list.
Wife Judy is out of town until tomorrow afternoon. She says I can't put the boat in without her! Maybe I'll hook it up and pick her up at Portland airport ... drop it in at Oregon City.
We're enjoying a glorious day. After several weeks of rain, the rivers are up and the grass is green. I'll post a photo of the launch. _________________ George & Judy Starbuck |

Trust you have a proper bottle of libation at hand to share sips with each other, a little for the boat, and a little for Poseidon. We'll lift a glass in your honor when we hear that all is great with the launch. Best luck -- |
