Well let's firm up the Lake Powell cruise dates for this September. Rendezvous will be in Oak Canyon on Saturday, September 22. I will launch in Wahweap on Friday at noon and head up river with anyone that would like to tag along. Probably overnight somewhere along the way...then head for Oak Canyon on Saturday morning. We will have a potluck type thing in Oak Canyon on Saturday night...then head up river to see the high points of the lake over the next few days...planning on hauling out at Wahweap on Friday the 28th.
Snow pack is only 58% of normal so far...but the rivers are up...like 175%..so anybody's guess what water levels will look like in September. We will deal with that as always.

We've been waiting for dates to add to our cruising calendar for this year. We're planning on making this one. I don't see Oak Canyon on my Stan Jones map. Do I need a special C-Brat decoder ring to find it? Wink

We are planning on coming to Lake Powell this year. We've been very impressed with the accounts and pictures we've read and seen. It looks like a wonderful place. We're off to Florida on Thursday for a month so we won't be doing any serious planning on this trip for a while. We'll keep watching the site and are looking forward to coming.

Roger...Oak Canyon is to starboard ascending at mile 51. It's on the Stan Jones map...which by the way everyone should get a copy of. Lots of good info on the back of the map...and the standard most use for finding your way around Lake Powell. Available at the various stores at the lake...but I would order one online...it's fun to peruse and plan.

Stan Jones map is a great map. Here is a PDF map for those who want to put it on a tablet.

Pat, if you're on Safari, just click file and save as... I suspect that Firefox is the same.

Oak Creek Canyon S entrance is close to Lat:37.124N and Long 110.957W (this is from the topo map app we talked about the other day, but it overlays on Google Earth and the I pad maps. With the water level variation the area of Oak Creek Canyon changes a lot.

It is one of our favorite places, and Marie usually catches a bunch of strippers there (I clean them as fast as she catches them).

We are planing on being there for the gathering.

If your Ipad software is up to date you can save pdfs in the book shelf
or you get an app for viewing pdfs, I use PDF Reader Pro it lets me organize in folders. I have all my manuals for the boat in pdf on the Ipad.

On your Ipad
open the link in safari
touch the map just below the toolbars. Touch the open in button and pick the program you want to open it in. You can touch the open in ibooks button and it will store it on the bookshelf. If you have a pdf viewer then pick it.

I am assuming that you are trying to do this on your Ipad. Give it a try.

Hi Chris, Kerri On will be there. Just picked up my Powell prop 13 1/4 by 15. Should get me the 500 rpm I lost with the 17 pitch. We shall see. George

ooh! I don't want to miss this:

Quote from thataway Bob:

"...and Marie usually catches a bunch of strippers there (I clean them as fast as she catches them)."

I only catch stripers there myself. It sounds like you have more fun:-)

Well, we did have the photo shoot girls at Forgotten Canyon one time. I missed most of that myself, but heard about it a lot.

We are going to reluctantly pass on Powell again this year (last year, not by choice!), and take our September vacation on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Everybody have a great time, I know you will!

We hope to be back from Alaska with some good tales to contribute to the campfire chat by then.
