Have no idea if that works... But, I do know that raw chicken drumsticks from Safeway are irresitable to Dungeness crabs. I do assume that you refer to the crustation, not the physical condition, right?

Went out last Sunday searching for crabs ,So of the Clinton ferry dock. It was awesome!!! After 2 1/2 hour soak 1st pot had about 20 dungies about half keepers. Next pot about the same We had 15 over 7 inches and about 10 at 6 1/4 or better.

Since limit is 5 per person we returned many to the sea. What an experience to have so many choices.

Ok. I must be lost here. What is the iodine supposed to do if it did work? Our blue crabs in Louisiana are not as big as the ones you are catching but we also don't have any limits here.

well iodine is my grand dad's secret . . . for fish

I felt it was time to share . . .

apparently it was great for marinating baitfish, makes them smell more like they are actually pissing/pooping in the water.

Dunno if it works for crab bait. 1 pound blocks of Monterey squid, drizzled with iodine . . .

Dunno if that's a viable eat me chain

Yes limit in Wa is 5 per day,min 6 1/4 across, hard shell.

cordinates? It's a long haul from S.F, but what the heck.

Go a half mile north of Possession Point Angry Look for a white house and try there

But I think we took them all!!

I don't need to know spots but I would like to know deep. I believe that the crab at at different depths during the year. so how deep where you in the sound.

OK,

How deep--- I was between 50-70 feet. I use a leaded line 100 feet long so that gives me plenty to account for tide change and also if I happen to hit an underwter valley.

Yes, it was an excellent year for crabs, we pulled one pot that held 34 crabs, though they weren't all keepers, of course. But lots of 7 inchers!

I'm not sure I'd want to consume a crab that had been snacking on iodine. Isn't that stuff bad for you???
