Hi, Susan and I are going to host what was the Bellingham gathering next year. This gathering takes place in late July or early August every year. We have been taking to others and the idea of moving the gathering to La Conner has came up. So I would like to know what the brat pub thinks about the idea in a poll format so I can get solid numbers. But first here are the pro's and con's , as I see them, of the two locations.
Bellingham pros
1. good location for starting or ending a cruise.
2. free parking
4. well protected from wind and traffic
5. nice marina and bathroom/showers
6. lots of dock space, thu we have over filled it a time or two.
cons.
1. long way to trailer for most everyone.
2. not much to do with in a short walk.
3. small choose of restaurants.
4. bellingham bay can be boucney in a small wind.
5. to far to run to in the boat for everyone but Dave
La conner
pros.
1. Lots of do in town
2. over ten places to eat
3. 50 shops with in 200yards of the boat
4. nice showers/bathrooms
5. same amount of dock, maybe more.
6. closer to trailer too and more of a central location for those that come by boat.
7. far more chooses to launch in the general area.
8. good location for go to or returning from a cruise.
9. lots of boat traffic up the channel, its a parade
cons.
1. the swinomish channel has almost constant current in one direction or the other. this does not bug me but other that are not use to it may have a issue.
2. launch ramp in town is small and has little parking. there are other ramps close by and a sling launch right in the marina.
3.We have not been here before so Its hard to know what to expect.
4. lots of boat traffic up the channel.
5.my parents are near by.
on edit: ok i thought this was going to the poll page with a way to mark your choose. seems I dont know how to do that. help please.

Tom,
I don't want to throw you a curve, but how about Blakely Island Marina. The C-Brat event used to be held there in July before it moved to Bellingham and always had a good turn out.

Whew! After reading that headline, I thought the two towns were going to war! Frankly, I think Bellingham would kick LaConner's butt, but size does matter.
Although I am not political, I want my vote to count (even if Tom can't put together a poll). If we happen to be in the PNW next summer (and there is that rumor going around), we would definitely prefer... to be wherever you guys are gonna do this. Pick a place, pick a time - tough for us retired folks to know where we're going to be next week, much less next year, but this sounds like fun.
I guess Joe and Ruth are officially TugNuts... even though I have seen his "I my C-Dory" Underroos. It's a long story, and I don't want to go into it here. But kudos to Joe and Ruth for all the efforts to insure everyone has a good time, and kudos to Tom and Susan for stepping up.
Vote early, vote often.

Tom – a poll is a good idea if it is just for those that may attend. I don’t think C-Brats that have no intention of attending the gathering should vote. I think a thread like this where we let you know which site we prefer is the best way to find out which town we prefer.
That said, my vote is for La Conner. I know it cuts down on my run time by being closer to Olympia but I can always put in the Columbia River at Longview and go around Cape Flattery to get there.

Tom,
Definitely more variety within easy walking distance at La Conner and we could always practice paintball on the "wookies" roaring up and down the channel .
Will be there on G dock tomorrow night if you are around. On our way to our club cruise in the mid/south sound.

I vote for LaConner for various reasons, but the primary one is that we have not had a CBGT there and until we do we will not really know how it compares to Bellingham.
Is the factory going to be involved in this, or any other, CBGT?

Tom,
Dee and I would like to give La Conner a try. It sounds like there is a lot to see and do.

Tom
is there any type of accomodations for the potluck aside from being on the dock. maybe a covered area or building of sorts in Laconner?
I like the idea of Lacconner for selfish reasons. right close to home and all....lol..... _________________ Roger on the "SENSEI"

Some of these issues were already discussed at the end of the Bellingham CBGT thread...Tom was going to look into it.

I think Laconner would be a good try. I am not real keen on Blakely only because you can't go anywhere outside the marina. Except of course a couple of seasoned C-Brats that ducked under the fence on the beach. _________________ David and Kate

Not to complicate things but by chance we were at CapSante marina (anacortes) today and asked the person in charge about being moored together for a gathering . She said they would give us several of the large (66,) slips where we could fit 4-5 boats per slip and could be together . We're not pushing this, just forwarding information . _________________ Patti and Barry

Mike,
Do you "resemble" that remark?
We're up for LaConner too. A little shorter run from Sequim. We have a couple of favorite restaurants there and would probably stretch the visit to 4-5 days. Having reciprocals with LaConner YC makes it all the more appealing. _________________ Roger
