|
|
I have a friend who will be looking for a new 4 to 5 h.p. outboard motor within the next couple of days. His boat is a 50+ foot Ocean Alexander and he needs the small outboard for his inflatable. I'm partial to Honda motors, but I also hear really good things about Suzuki and Yamaha.
He will be arriving tonight in Anacortes and will be in the area through the weekend before he heads up to Desolation Sound next week. Where's the best place to get a reasonable price.
Thanks for your help!

From Anacortes, I'd contact E.Q. Marine. They sell both Honda and Tohatsu and are great people with which to work. _________________ Roger on Meant to be |

I agree with Roger regarding EQ Harbor Services (EQ Marine.) Also, Yamaha used to manfacture the lightest 4-Stroke, 4 HP portable in the world at 48 pounds, but unfortunately they discontinued it. They now offer a 4 HP (no 5 HP model) that is their de-tuned 6 HP, and it weighs 60 pounds. While the Honda 5 HP weighs 60 pounds, too, the Tohatsu 5 HP is a lighter motor at 55 pounds. That extra weight can really make a difference. _________________ Marinaut 215 - "Betty Ann" Sept-2011

I'd also use EQ if I were buying in the Anacortes area, no doubt about that. I'm just now breaking in my Tohatsu 6 and I love it so far. Same size and weight as their 4 and 5 models. It has through prop exhaust which makes it quieter than motors which don't, as well as being water cooled with a thermostat. The 2011 models have some cool new features as well. Best of luck with whatever you choose! Mike. |

Thanks for your advice fellow brats! I called EQ yesterday (Wednesday) and left a message for Les. Haven't heard back yet and they are closed today (Thursday). I'm not sure my friend is going to be able to make that connection.
Lots of interesting information on the Internet about who makes what in the small outboard world these days. Hopefully, my friend can find one that suits his needs.
AGAIN, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!
