need to replace a windshield wiper motor . do I need a 80 degree or a 110
degree wiper sweep for my 19' angler and is it best to just buy the whole kit as the blade unit seems to be stuck on ? |

When changing out the wiper motor on our 25 a few years ago, I had to cut the shaft to remove the blade (the motor was shot, so I wasn't worried about the shaft). I tried penetrating oil, some "guaranteed to cut through corrosion" stuff, heat, swearing, all the muscle I could muster, and more swearing to remove the wiper blade from the shaft. Swearing gave the best results until I decided two days of messing with it was enough and just cut through that SOB.
I think the 22 and the 25 use different wiper blades (the 25 is a pantographic fixture); you can open the motor and set the arc. IIRC, the motor came in with the smaller arc and that is the way ours was set up from the factory. The 110 degree arc worked better for the bigger window on the 25. Unless you hear from someone with experience with the 22, I think I'd be inclined to try it with the 80 degree setting. Also, put some marine grease on the shaft and the fitting for the wiper before mounting it all up.
I seem to recall that there were about 50 set screws holding the blade to the shaft... that may be horrific flashbacks, and it may only be 2 or 3, each located in a place best suited for those who are triple jointed.
The port wiper on our boat is getting slow, so I'm probably due to practice up on my swearing again. Or dynamite. Or sell the boat "as is, with one really great wiper".
Kidding aside, it would probably be a much easier job if you weren't trying to do it in blazing sun and 400% humidity.
Other than that, it's a snap.
Best wishes,
Jim B. _________________ Jim & Joan

How do we replace the windshield wiper BLADE on a C-22?
We tried one from Auto Parts, but the fitting didn't work. _________________ Bob & Jackie Hall |

bburgin:
Please post info. you have for replacing the AFI brand blade with Nappa brand.
I would really appreciate it.
I recently have been gathering research on my blades. It turned out to be tedious. I probably should have checked library at this site first. Our 1999 22' C-Dory came with a motorized 11" AFI brand blade (part # 33004) at the helm and a manual type Perko brand ( blade only part# 053300099B) (wiper and arm part# 0533DP0STS) at the Port. Expensive.
Thanks Tom _________________ (Primative) |

Got an e-mail from Scott Boysen, VP/Triton Marine, who says the arm is AFI part #33106A and the blade 33104 for my 2005 C22. However, I still couldn't find either. Called West Marine, and Patricia special ordered blades from AFI for me at $15.85 each; shipping was extra.
Good effort by Patricia at West Marine. Hope it pays off for me with a correct fit when the blades arrive. _________________ Mikey |

Received this from Fisheries Supply--
We have the ability to special order the part #33104 for you if you like. I’ll need to add it in our computer system before I can get you a price as we do not currently have that or the #33106A in our system.
How soon were you hoping to have the blade? If you need it fast, there likely will be an added freight cost.
Let me know if you’d like to proceed.
Kind regards,
Stacey

Copious amounts of Rainex is the answer. Those wiper blades/motors etc. are a giant PITA even in cool weather.
I am trying to get the arms off of the knurled knob w/o success. My peanut grinder blade will get them off but I am trying to avoid that method.
Is there set screws holding them on the knurled knob??? I can not get close enough to see as they are up under the brow of the cabin roof and too close to the top. _________________ On the HIGH TIDE-II, wife Carolyn and I.....Another summer fishing on the HIGH TIDE II in the Cook Inlet at Cape Ninilchik, Alaska.
