We just got back from our second trip to Desolation Sound since we got our boat in April. We are learning something new each time we take it out and are really enjoying the experience. Our first trip in mid May had us stop for lunch in Lund at Nancy's Bakery - apple and brie paninnis on apple cinamon bread - wow. I can also vouch for the foccacio bread which we had with our barbecued steaks in Melanie Cove that evening. My brother in-law on his sailboat and ourselves were the only two boats in there for two nights. We came back to Pender Harbour in the pouring rain and were sure pleased with the Espar heater and windsheild wipers.
Last week we left early afternoon once the storm warning was lifted and were in Van Donop Inlet in about 3 hours. A great spot to spend a couple of nights and we did the walk through to Squirrel Cove. The next night we went to Gorge Harbour and tied up at the marina. Sure nice to have a hot shower. We barbecued oysters on the big grills provided having met up again with my brother in-law as well as some new friends from other boats. I gave a number of tours on our new C-Dory to interested parties.
The food at the restaurant was great, they have another very good chef. Later we applied a match to the fire all laid out in the fireplace and socialized with our new friends.
We spent our last night in Grace Harbour, the most boats we had seen and then stopped at Nancy's Bakery again for lunch before putting the downrigger over and fishing along Texada. No fish but does life get any better.
The wind hit us at Cape Cockburn but the boat handled well through the lumpy chop and we arrived in Pender Harbour in time for cocktails.

We have decided to buy some memory foam for the v-berth before we go out again. As we get older we appreciate our comforts more.

Igrant,
Thanks for posting a fantastic cruise report. Brings back some very pleasant memories of a C-Brat cruise in Desolation a few years back. I also hit Nancy's Bakery both launching and recovering at Lund. I highly recommend it to anyone cruising the area.
