we have a 04 22' cruiser with a 75hp and 8hp kicker has anyone installed smart tabs from nauticus and do they do the job. Very Happy

There is considerable information on the C-Brat site regarding trim tabs. Electric vs hydraulic, auto, and even the tabless, knife edge drag types like starcraft tom put on. (Check in the search system, use a capital AND between word to narrow the scope some, " trim AND tabs AND automatic" for instance.)

As for me, I like to set my own, for how i want the boat to feel, respond, and act. JMHO.

This has been discussed several times in the past. Generally trim tabs are recommended (either hyraulic or electric), but the "automatic" smart tabs are not. As I recollect a couple of people like them, but I would not own one on a C Dory. They do not allow to trim for sea conditions. Where they may be of value is in a boat which is poorly designed, or too much weight in the stern, and will get the bow down as the boat comes up on a plane. There is a danger with putting the bow down too much in heavy following seas.

The problem with the automatic tabs on a boat as big as a C-Dory is that at low speeds they are in the "down" position, and this can be dangerous in following seas. On small boats that doen't venture far, the spring loaded tabs can work fine, but larger boats need more control.
