We have decided to sell our much loved, 22’, 1983 C-Dory Classic.

This 1983, 22’ C-Dory Classic was purchased in February, 2009, found in very “neglected condition”.

After hauling back to Iowa and close evaluation of what we had purchased, we realised that we had a very sound hull, junk interior, a terrific motor and a junk trailer.

The motor is a 1997 Evinrude OceanPro, that did not run. After the motor was professionally evaluated for the “what do we do next decision/s” we were surprised to find that the motor had very good compression and may have had little use.

The motor apparently had not run for some time, probably because the $500/600 ignition module had failed at some time and not been replaced.

This deficiency, we believe, turned out to be a gift, instead of spending the money for this repair, the previous owner chose to park the boat/engine.

We had the engine professionally repaired and serviced and also purposely eliminated the oil injector (we now mix the gas and oil).

The interior was absolute junk, which we completely removed, cleaned, repaired and painted the hulls interior, eventually replaced the complete interior.

Fortunately, I own a small custom furniture manufacturing company (ronfisher.com) and had our top guy custom build a new interior.

Notice that a lift type center window was installed (surprising expensive item).

All electrical (components and wiring) was stripped out and professionally replaced.

Instead of even trying to salvage and/or repair the trailer, a new, twin Aluminium I beam, tandem axle EZ-Loader was purchased.

This is a fantastic quality trailer, also easy to load, unload and pull.

No expense was spared and after at least 2-1/2 full days (sometimes more) per week, 3-1/2 months later, we launched R-Dory.

I/we are reluctantly selling this much loved boat, however it’s time to make our lives more simple.

We also have “Lil Sis” a 1990, 16’ C-Dory which will be enough for a while.

Selling price is $15,500.00 which is much less than invested.

Note: If you absolutely must dicker around about the price, please advise up front and we will start at a much higher price and allow you to beat us down to $15,500.00.

I think you did a great job on the interior. Did you do it your self? I really can appreciate the work after building my galley this winter. just wish my work looked as good as yours. Sorry you have to sell.

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for the complements, I did not do the work myself, my lead guy at our custom furniture factory did the work (see ronfisher.com).

I really don’t have to sell, but it seems prudent to slow down a little, not too bad since we also have a 16’ Angler.

Anyway, thank you again for the good words.

Best regards,

Ron, Connie, Bear & Dolly Fisher

It looks like you went all out. Someone will be getting a nice boat. I love restoration projects. Bringing something like the magical CD's back from the dead is a wonderful thing. Good luck.

I have seen Ron and Connie's 22 up close and personal, both before and after.

The restoration job is second to none. Ron has a custom furniture factory making furniture for the rich and famous and his craftsmen did a superb job on the interior. His finish guys also did a remarkable job recoating the interior and exterior fibreglass. The boat looks great.

The new center opening window was $600. I know, I bought one from the same place Ron got his.

Hello Tex,

Thank you for the complements.

To make this interior project work out (design wise), we carefully dismantled the existing interior to be used as patterns where possible.

The box area where the pilot seat is mounted, was moved back (aft) two inches (2”) to allow a little more leg room, also the battery compartment was increased so each battery now sit inside plastic battery boxes for safety.

The drawers are mounted with (very neat) metal drawer glides that hold the drawer shut in the closed position and easily open when pulled.

Also, above the drawers there is enough (top) space to use as bench/seating.

On the other side we designed and installed a bench/storage box with spring loaded hinges that either hold the lid full open or full shut.

The cushions on the bench are held in place with velcro and stay in their positions full time.

The Mickey Mouse seat and table that was there originally, was just that in my/our opinion, Mickey Mouse.

The bench/storage box may not be C-Dory looking/like, but works just fine for us and our guests, also holds a ton of gear, like extra fold up chairs, extra life jackets etc. etc.

Tex, travel safe friend, see you and Sharon in September at the Guttenberg Gathering & Reunion (yes, we are having another B-B-Q rib dinner for the Saturday night banquet, being catered by the same people as last year).

Best regards,

Ron, Connie, Bear & Dolly Fisher
